Trombly Terriers Taking Care of Business
June 10, 2019
Dear Trombly Community,
It is hard to believe that we are in our final week of the 2018-2019 school year and writing the last Trombly update. The cliche “where has the time gone” seems to fit here. It seems like yesterday we were greeting our incoming kindergarten students at the Kindergarten Round Up. Now, we are ready to call them first graders.
October rolled around and the focus became the Trombly Fun Run. Who would have thought our mighty little school would exceed the set goal and put two staff members up on the roof on a cold November night?
The winter months saw an unprecedented number of days off due to inclement weather. There were so many days off that the idea of making days up was beginning to become a conversation piece.
In March we launched our 9th One School, One Book project. Not only did our school read the same book during the month, we decided this year to select a book with a character that had some special needs. This was part of a new journey we were about to take with the guidance of our Parent DIversity Group. Not only did the group support the selection, they helped place books with topics of diversity into each classroom.
As the year wound down, our 5th grade safety/service squad headed to Comerica Park to catch a Tigers game followed by the entire 5th grade heading to Camp Storer for the annual 5th Grade Camp adventure. In 4 days we will be saying good-bye to those 5th graders as they begin their next chapter in life.
It truly has been a wonderful year. So many great memories have been created. Those things do not happen without the trust of wonderful families who selected Trombly as the place for their child’s education.
Thank you for all your support and may this summer be a time where lifelong memories are created.
Warm Regards,
Walter Fitzpatrick

Published by the Trombly Family Learning Team
Take time this summer to practice the habits as a family. Here’s a brief overview of the habits.
What Are the 7 Habits?
Habit One: Be Proactive
I have a "Can Do" attitude.
I choose my actions, attitudes and moods. I don't blame others. I do the right thing without being asked, even if nobody is looking.
Habit Two: Begin with the End in Mind
I plan ahead and set goals.
I do things that have meaning and make a difference. I am an important part of my classroom. I look for ways to be a good citizen.
Habit Three: Put First Things First
I spend my time on things that are most important.
This means I say no to things I should not do.
I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan. I am organized.
Habit Four: Think Win-Win
I want everyone to be a success. I don't have to put others down to get what I want. It makes me happy to see other people happy. I like to do nice things for others. When a conflict arrives, I help brainstorm a solution. We all can win!
Habit Five: Seek First To Listen, Then to Be Understood
I listen to other people's ideas and feelings. I try to see things from their viewpoints.
I listen to others without interrupting. I am confident in voicing my ideas.
Habit Six: Synergize
I value other people's strengths and learn from them. I get along well with others, even people who are different from me. I work well in groups. I seek out other people's ideas to solve problems. I know that "two heads are better than one". I am a better person when I let other people into my life and work.
Habit Seven: Sharpen the Saw
I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep. I spend time with family and friends. I learn in lots of ways and lots of places
