F & P Kits in Crates Update
In an effort to make your life easier when using the F&P Benchmark Assessment Kits, Jami moved the books and running record forms into crates. The crate houses the Student Forms booklet, the calculator, and the file folders with the books and 10 copies of each assessment.
The box houses the Assessment CD, Benchmark Assessment Guide, the Assessment Forms Guide, and The Continuum of Literacy Learning.

Guess Who's Teaching Kindergarten Next Year?
Introducing Phil Dankoski
Dear Cumberland Road Elementary Staff,
My name is Philip Dankoski and I am elated to have an opportunity to join the students and staff of CRE starting in the Fall of 2015. I wanted to share a little bit about myself. I’ve been married to my wife, Mary Dankoski, for twenty-two years. She is an Executive Associate Dean for IU School of Medicine.
We are parents of three children who attend Hamilton Southeastern Schools. Maura, our oldest, is in 9th grade and made the JV volleyball team for HSE high school as a freshman. (David Greiwe was Maura’s first coach and set her on a great path!) Sean, who is in 8th grade, plays basketball and runs cross country and track. Tess, our 6th grader, dances for the Academy of Dance Arts here in Fishers. They are each quirky and unique and I am extremely proud they call me Dad.
I graduated from the University of Michigan in 1992 with degrees in English and Psychology. I was a restaurant manager when my wife was in graduate school, then a stay at home dad when our kids were young. When Tess began school full time, I started as a substitute teacher in the HSE school district. The following year I was offered a position as an instructional assistant at Thorpe Creek Elementary. I enjoyed both opportunities so much I entered IUPUI’s Transition to Teaching Program to obtain my teacher’s license, which I completed in December of 2014. I was given the chance by Dr. Kaminski to cover a maternity leave at Brooks School Elementary, a position that help me grow in my desire to become an excellent educator. I’m coming into this position with the excitement of a new graduate and the wisdom that comes from raising three children.
I am a very good racquetball player, but currently don’t belong to a gym that has courts. Cooking is a creative outlet that I enjoy and find relaxing. (I could do without the shopping). I love poetry. Currently I’m reading a lot of Mary Oliver because she’s accessible, honest, and grounded. I ride a mountain bike poorly, but I’d like to get better and strive to make the time to improve.
I am excited to begin my career at such a supportive, high achieving district and school. I look forward to working with you and embrace the opportunity to partner with you in our students’ ongoing academic and socio-emotional growth.
All the best,
Phil Dankoski
New to CRE from TCE
My name is Sarah Swenson, and I am excited to be joining the Cumberland Road family! I graduated from Kansas State University in 2014 and currently teach Kindergarten at Sand Creek Elementary. I grew up in Greeley, Colorado and love spending time outdoors with my family (especially in the mountains). My fiance, Casey, and I are getting married this November in Manhattan, KS, and we have enjoyed exploring Indy over the past eight months.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your team, and I look forward to getting to know you all!
Coming to Us From Pike
Hi! My name is Michelle Hohe (pronounced Hoy), soon to be Michelle McKinney after my upcoming wedding on July 18th. I am originally from Huntington, IN, which is a small town near Fort Wayne. I graduated from IUPUI in 2012 and I have taught in Pike Township for 3 years. While in Pike, I gained experience teaching kindergarten, first, and second grade. In my free time I enjoy running and participating in outdoor activities, such as hiking and camping. I am so very excited to be joining this outstanding team of educators at HSE!
