March 4 Edition
It's easy to focus on the negative things around us...but what if we changed our lense?
This week I was reminded of the wonderful educational opportunities and experiences that are provided to Creston Middle School students each and every day. I was also reminded of the high number of students who take advantage of those opportunities and are growing into well-rounded young adults. If we only focus on the negative aspects of dealing with middle school students, then we are overlooking all the positive change and growth occurring around us. Below are some pics of some of those experiences provided in just last week alone: WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Late Start Day: Wednesday, March 6
The focus for our late start meeting next Wednesday will be school safety. Please bring your red emergency tri-fold binders and your red emergency bags. Support staff should plan on also attending the safety meeting in the LGI room beginning at 7:20 a.m.
Reminder Safe Schools Suicide Awareness Training: Due March 31st
This is a reminder that I will need a printed certificates of completion for all certified staff by March 31st for the two hour training. All instructional assistants will need to complete the 37 minute training.
Process Checks Friday, March 8th
CMS process checks have been moved to March 8. Schedule and more info will be posted as we get closer. Please check the schedule for your department's reporting time. The process checks will take place in the LGI room.
Aesop Login will Need to be Updated on Tuesday
MSD of Warren Township is upgrading to the Frontline Education Insight's Platform which will require all staff to create a new Frontline ID account Username and Password to be able to utilize what was the previous Aesop system. Everything will look and feel the same; however, everyone will need to update their username and password on Tuesday. A link with this information will be sent out on Tuesday, so please look for it and make that change quickly.
School-wide Discipline Changes Reminders
Chills: Brief timeout for student
- Student is sent with "chill" pass
- Student is sent to "buddy" classroom not team leader
- No parent contact is required
- Student should return in 15 minutes
Freeze: Student has caused a significant disruption and needs to be removed
- Student is sent with a "freeze" pass
- Student is sent to team leader's classroom
- Teacher makes parent contact
- Teacher fills out minor tracking form
Referral: Student has committed a major code violation (refer to office managed behaviors on t-chart)
- Student is sent directly to STR (mark level 2 referral on STR pass)
- Adminstration makes parent contact.
