Book Exchange:
CSUSM student, Rylee Noreen, will be hosting a Book Exchange at Silver Gate as part of her Volunteer Project. Donation boxes will be placed around school April 12-15. Students can donate as many books as they would like from their home library. On Thursday, April 21, Rylee will have books set up on tables in front of the library where each student can pick a book if they would like. It is a fun way to share the love of reading without having to spend a dime!

The morning of April 25th...during Monday Morning Assembly..we will have a combo celebration for Earth Day and Poem in Your Pocket Day...We will have a few students reading their poems and a group of kids performing a few songs... We will celebrate through out the rest of the day by sharing poems between students and staff.
As I admire all of you...
Laughter and smiles shared through and through.
We work together to inspire.
Always working hard to instill values and to aspire
You are not just teachers to the students

IN THE STEAM LAB LAST WEEK!
TK/Kinder STEAM:
This week in STEAM we reviewed Living vs Non Living things and the basic needs of all living things specifically focusing on the need for shelter. Next week we will observe the Weaver Bird making a nest and try to make out own nests using only natural materials. No tape or glue allowed!
1st Grade STEAM:
In first grade we started a new unit investigating light and found that there are natural and artificial sources of light. They then observed with flashlights how light passes through different kinds of materials if those materials are transparent, translucent or opaque. Ask your child for examples! Which material would you use at the beach to avoid a sunburn??
2nd Grade Steam:
Exciting day in 2nd grade STEAM lab. First we checked in on our crystal growing. Then we started our Life Science unit specifically investing parts of a seed and how seeds grow. We planted our own sprout seeds and will observe their growth weekly for the next 6 weeks!
3rd & 4th Grade STEAM:
Let's Welcome our New STEAM Teacher - Erica Tarassoff!
We have started the ROBOTICS unit. This weeks topic was "Exploring Remote Places". The kiddos identified remote places within our universe, thought of ways we explored them currently, took a closer look with NASA's Rover, the Perseverance, and built our own Rover, Milo, with Lego's WeDo 2.0 set.

Sondra Thiederman and Tom Sandler are Lexi Gardener's grandparents. They work for Canine Companions and they are puppy raisers. They brought Ruby, the golden-lab, to meet the students of Room 1 and to educate us all about service dogs. We all loved it!!
