Real Engaging Authentic Learning

Big picture

Celebrating Our Autumn Term REAL projects!

Our classes have started to invite in parents to share the topic work they have completed this term. Year 1 were delighted to welcome so many parents into the hall on Wednesday morning where they enjoyed Christmas crafts together and watched a film showing the class's learning about the queen this term.

Year 4 parents came in on Thursday to watch a fabulous 'sketch show'' in the Chapel. The class had done their own take on the Romans in the style of Horrible Histories and there were rave reviews! Children enjoyed sharing their work with parents and carers which demonstrated how much they had learnt about life in Roman Britain.

Year 6 REAL project - Memories of London and Art Auction

The parents of Year 6 were treated to a film this afternoon to see some of the class's exploits during the residential visit to London in November. In addition, there has been an art auction to buy pieces evidencing the children's learning in history this term. Finlay did an amazing job as the auctioneer, he kept the pace up, raised money for the school and showed that he could have a career in the future as a stand up comedian. A big thank you to all parents and carers who came along to buy the paintings and support the children

We're sure parents of the remaining classes will be looking forward to next week and details of how to share in our REAL projects (and KS2 Superstar Worship) are shown below.

EYFS and Key Stage 1 Superstar Worship

Many parents and carers joined our first ever superstar worship to learn about the fabulous work that children have been doing in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. During this worship we presented our superstar of the term awards which will be displayed in our newly created superstar gallery in school. Well done to every child for their great work this term!

Countdown to Christmas - Daily Events!

Monday - Christmas Lunch Day

Our school ambassadors would like to remind everyone that Monday is when we are having Christmas lunch in school. They would love it if everyone could wear a Christmas jumper or some Christmas accessories like tights, hats or badges. You can wear a jumper and accessories if you like, but we are keeping to uniform trousers and skirts.

Tuesday - KS2 Superstar Worship at 9am

Parents and carers are invited to our superstar worship sessions (in the school hall) when we will be sharing some of the work from projects and also giving some special awards!

For Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 the assembly is on Tuesday 18th December at 9.00am.

Also on Tuesday, the Singing Squad visit Sunnyfield Lodge, KS1 HAVE THEIR CHRISTMAS PARTIES, and the orchestra perform for their parents.

Wednesday - Party Time!

EYFS have their Christmas party in the morning. Years 5 and 6 enjoy their Christmas parties in the afternoon.

Year 2 rehearse the Nativity in the Cathedral.

For all parties, children should come in their school uniform and bring party clothes to change into in a bag.

Thursday - More REAL project Sharing

ALSO ON THURSDAY, YEARS 3 AND 4 HAVE THEIR CHRISTMAS PARTIES IN THE MORNING.

Friday- Year 2 present the Nativity

We are confident this year's nativity will be as moving as it always is, so be sure to make your way to the Cathedral well in advance of the 1pm start.

We will walk the children back to school afterwards, so please collect from school not the Cathedral, remembering that we finish at 2pm on Friday (with no Oscar's after school).

Scooters and Bikes

For reasons of health and safety please can children not ride bikes and scooters at the end of the day on the playground.

Celebrate the New Year at Oscar's!

Do you have to go back to work after all the festivities have ended? Oscar's will open on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd January, 9am to 5pm. A full day costs £20 and half days (9am -1pm or 1pm - 5pm) are only £15. A number of places have already been booked so you may want to book now to avoid disappointment! The link to the online booking site is found below.
