Mr. Mauck's Musings
The first whole week of school is in the books and the kids and staff were amazing. I have included pictures of the school staff below. We got to ring the victory bell several times after the morning Pledge of Allegiance. The victory bell acknowledges our athletic, academic, or student achievement victories. We have 17 scheduled IHSAA events this week. Our first home football game will be tonight against Evansville Memorial. The "best band in the land" will be performing at halftime. The tennis team is off to Columbus to compete against some tough competition. The ladies golf team will be on the links for the Tony Blessinger Invitational at Buffalo Trace Golf Course. The cross country teams won both the girl's and boy's races at the Forest Park Invitational. Volleyball picked up a good win in three sets against Evansville Central. The Soccer teams have notched wins and the girls will play Reitz on Saturday. Like I said we are off to a hot start.
The JHS yearbook staff is taking orders for the 2023 yearbooks today. There is a link below to save some money and order early. School pictures will be taken on Wednesday and Thursday in the students' English classes. Dana Kunz has created a JHS Jobs Board for employment opportunities for students. Students may access the Jobs Board via the GJCS Bookmarks on their school devices.
Nurse Hutton wants to share the Dubois County Health Department Shot Clinic information for Juniors. Registration and waivers are linked in PDF form below. This is an easy way to stay up to date on your students' vaccinations. Also, a reminder about our Covid protocols if students would test positive for Covid. Please see the information below.
Our Guidance Department will be hosting a parent information night on August 24th, a Wednesday evening. Ninth and tenth graders will start at 6 and eleventh and twelfth graders will begin at 7 pm in the auditorium. The Guidance Department is also accepting registration for the October 1st SAT test hosted at Jasper High School. We strongly recommend that Juniors take an SAT test before the mandated test in the Spring. Remember you can count your two highest scores from any test when applying to colleges.
Finally, JHS has a presence on Instagram. Please follow the Jasper High School official account at Jasperhighschool1 and the GJCS account at gjcscats and the StuCo account at jhsstuco76. JHS typically has used Twitter exclusively but now we will promote students on Instagram as well.
Have a great weekend and we are looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
