LHS Weekly Update #20

December 18, 2020

Looking forward to 2021

This semester has not been an easy one and I want to thank students, staff, parents, and the community for your efforts. I am sure I am not alone in that I will be happy to see 2020 behind us and am looking forward to some positive changes. May you have time to rest, relax, and celebrate the season.

There is a lot of information in this update regarding what is to come semester 2 so please take the time to look through the information. More details coming in January.

Have some fun during the winter break. This Fairbanks Winter Activity Guide may be of interest to you. Take care and happy holidays!

Changes to Quarter 3

Changes to the Bell Schedule

Quarter 3 will have some immediate changes. First and foremost, class period times are changing and Wednesdays will be instructional days (no longer flex support days). This means that students will be expected to log into class five days per week regardless of being in person or remote. **eLearning is still an option as is BEST homeschool. Communicate with your counselor right away if you are wanting to change learning modes.

First day of Class

The first day of class is Wednesday, January 6th. Because this is the first day of the semester, and a day when some students will be stopping by the school to pick up books and materials, this will be a "meet and greet" class day.

In-person Option Starting Feb. 1

I've included a video in this newsletter regarding the in person option that will begin Feb. 1. All blended students will have the choice to come in person 5 days per week or stay remote. Teachers will be teaching both remote and in person each class period.

Input Form coming in January

After winter break I will send out a form to ask each blended learning family what they want to do starting Feb. 1 regarding in person or staying remote. Feel free to email me with questions you have and I'll work on a Q&A to come out in January as well.
