Chalk Talk Presentation
Mrs. Beth Young, Austinville's Art instructor was excited to introduce her students to her Samford University advisor and art professor. Dr. Lowell Vann was the head of the art department and was a member of the Samford faculty for 45 years! He remains active and continues to produce paintings and pottery, do chalk talks and other presentations, and also runs an art studio. What a work ethic at eighty years old! Mrs. Young said, "Dr. Vann always taught his students to have a plan, do your best, and be yourself!" She is so glad the students and teachers at Austinville enjoyed this unique presentation.

Code of Conduct Booklet Goes Digital
The Code of Alabama (1975) § 16-28-12(b) requires that our student discipline and behavior policy be disseminated annually to all students. This is a very costly measure when distributed in a printed format. By electing to receive the Code of Conduct in digital format, you will help our system save money. Please use the following link: http://www.dcs.edu/forms.cfm?myForm=24458 to complete the registration form. You will need to complete one form for each child that attends Decatur City Schools. Once the 2015-2016 Decatur City Schools Code of Student Conduct is ready for dissemination, it will be forwarded to you. Thank you in advance to all that are willing to participate in this cost-saving measure.
