Bond Project Update

Dear East China Schools Community,

Marine City 6-12 Campus - The work on Marine City 6-12 Campus rennovation project has begun. The pictures below show the progress that has been made during the initial demolition of the two areas included in the first phase of the MCHS renovation project. One shows the removal of the old outside covered awning on the North side of the building. The second picture shows the old shop area that will soon be converted into the new Main Office area. The new structural steel has already been installed for the new rooftop HVAC unit that will provide heat and AC for that space.

We are excited to see the work start on this exciting project that will provide innovative and updated learning spaces for our staff and students.

Thank you to the ECSD community for your support.

Promises Made, Promises Kept!

STUDENTS’ TALENTS ON DISPLAY AT SC4 ART EXHIBIT

Approximately 45 works of Art created by SCMS students were on display at the 55th Annual Middle School/High School Beatrice Thornton Art Exhibit February 13th through February 22nd. The exhibit was in the Fine Arts Building at St Clair County Community College. SCMS has many talented and creative students, so this was just a small sample. Congratulations

to all!

POSITIVITY IN ACTION

Did you know that St. Clair Middle School offers a class that allows students to deep-dive into the character strengths and the “Other People Matter” Mindset that we implement school-wide through The Positivity Project? The format of this course is meant to provide the space for academic conversations and interactive connection activities, as well as a time to intentionally address and practice the twenty-four character strengths. The goal of this course is for students to use their character strengths and the Other People Mindset to build positive relationships with each other and become their best selves.

This semester, we are focusing on celebrating good character that is displayed by our students throughout the school day and at after-school activities. Students are awarded a raffle ticket to place in a weekly drawing to sit with their table of peers at the “Best Seat in the House” for the week during their lunch time.

SCMS PTO ACTIVITY NIGHT

On Friday, January 27, SCMS students had a chance to attend Student Activity Night at SCMS. There were a variety of fun activities for students to participate in, including, minute-to-win-it games, inflatable activities in the gym, caricature artists, spray tattoos, ping pong, giant jenga, spike ball, dodgeball, music in the cafeteria, and a photo booth! We also had plenty of pizza, and snacks to keep our students energized. Students had a great time! Thank you to our parent volunteers and the PTO for organizing this amazing opportunity that allowed our students to have some fun!
