West Pine Middle
Ignite! Engage! Grow!
A Note from Mrs. Wiley
We begin our winter sports season this week with a home wrestling match Wednesday vs New Century. The match begins at 4pm. Students are permitted to stay after school to attend. Rides should be here by 5:30pm. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students. Concessions will be available in our lobby area. Per district policy, masks are required while in the building.
Our PTSO is sponsoring a "We Are Thankful For You" luncheon for our staff this Friday. If you can help, please sign up using the link (below). You can also send an email or note of thanks to your child's teachers. This simple gesture will mean so much to them.
Have a wonderful week! JW

American Education Week
Late Work Deadline
- Any work assigned between November 1 and November 12 is due by November 19 for credit.
WPMS Book Fair
- West Pine Middle will be hosting a book fair the week after Thanksgiving from November 29th through December 6th. This will be a great opportunity to give the "gift of reading" to your child as well as other family and friends. We are encouraging families to set up an ewallet for your child to use when shopping at the book fair though students may still use cash at the fair. An ewallet can be set up now or at any time prior to or during the fair and provides your child with a safe, cashless way to shop the Book Fair. If you are interested in learning about or setting up an ewallet, please click here or scan the QR code below. Stay tuned for how to add funds to teacher ewallets to help purchase books for classroom libraries.
Robotics Club
- Please click here to access the application for West Pine Middle School's Robotics Club. Application deadline has been extended until December 10th. Please turn applications in to Mrs. Eiler. The Robotics Club will start meeting on January 6, 2022 and will meet on Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Connect Academy Enrollment
- The last day to sign up for the Connect Academy 2nd semester is this Friday 11/19/2021. The enrollment form can be found in the parent portal under the tab labeled FORMS. You can contact your home school to get access to your parent portal. If you would like to confirm your submission to the Connect Academy please email Mr. Swofford at mswofford@ncmcs.org.

School Information
Not Feeling Well...
- Students who are not feeling well are asked to stay home. Staying home when sick is essential to keeping infections out of school and preventing spread to others.
Cell Phones
- Students are reminded each morning during announcements to turn off their cell phones and place them in their book bags. If there is an emergency and your child needs to contact you, he/she is allowed to come to the office to call. Same goes for you. Please call the office and we will be sure to get the message to your child.
Reminders for afternoon dismissal
- School dismisses at 3pm. 6th graders are picked up at the front of the school. 7th graders are picked up by the baseball field (enter at West Pine Elementary School). 8th graders are picked up in the back parking lot (staff parking area). Please note: once the 8th grade afternoon carline is at capacity, those cars will be asked to remain in the regular line until a staff member directs them to the back of the school.
- 8th grade cars are asked to use their right turn signal to alert the staff member on duty directing traffic that you are turning right.
- 6th/8th carline: All cars are asked to stay close to the curb in the bend near the split in the road so that the 8th grade cars have enough clearance to exit safely.
Late Arrivals
- Students arriving after 8am must sign in at the front office. A parent/guardian must accompany the student to the front door and ring bell for assistance.
Early Dismissals
- We understand that doctor/dental appointments and other appointments cannot be avoided. However, in order to protect the instructional time and limit class disruptions, no early dismissals will be allowed after 2:30pm. Students will not be called out of class early until the parent/guardian arrives to school. Any changes to your child's afternoon ride home must be shared with our office staff prior to 2:30pm.
Instructional Fees
- School fees are $40 (technology and instructional). There may be additional fees for encore classes. Those fees can be paid online, or your child can bring in to school and one of our staff members will receipt. Families may submit a request for waiver or reduction of fees form if they feel they cannot afford to pay these fees. This form is available through our bookkeeper, Ms. Campos.
Face Coverings
- Students, staff and visitors are required to wear face coverings in the building. No face coverings are required while outside. The BOE will revisit this decision at the 10/4 board work session. Face coverings must be worn from the top of the nose to the chin.
Student Medication
- All medication, prescription and/or over-the-counter drugs that parents want given at school must have a physician order accompanying the medication to school. The Request for Medication Administration in School Form (Spanish) must be filled out in its entirety, on one sheet of paper with the front page being the physician order, and the back, the parent authorization. Medication of any type must be brought to school by the parent/guardian in the original container with the Request form Medication Administration at School completed by the physician and the parent/guardian.
