Happy New Year!
January Character Trait On Perseverance
This month we are coordinating classroom activities around the theme of “Perseverance.” Students are reminded daily of trying and trying again even when things get difficult. Strive to reach your goals. Keep your confidence up and feel good about yourself. The students and I will meet on Monday, January 8th to share what this looks and sounds like in our every day lives! This will also be a day to celebrate being a part of our grade level teams where students will wear their grade level tee shirts here at school.
Below are some great teaching points for discussion at home:
I always do my best; I strive for excellence.
I am willing to risk failure for a worthy goal.
I am self-disciplined.
I make sure to learn from my mistakes and failures.
I try to see the big picture and think long term.
I set goals and stay focused.
I don't give up just because things seem difficult.
I don't procrastinate.
I think I am / am not a diligent person because: ___________________

January Title One Tip
Winter Weather Clothing
Recently, we have had a lot of missing snow pants, boots, hats and mittens. Although we do our best to make sure your child puts their items into their lockers, they sometimes forget their items in different parts of the building. Please label all items on the inside tags with your child’s initials. Thank you!

Reminder About Student Absences
Student attendance at school is not only important for academic success, but it also helps to build good work habits. While students do get sick from time to time, absences over 10 days in a school year are usually viewed as excessive.
Attendance can be a touchy subject for some, but needs to be taken seriously. A temperature over 100 degrees and vomiting are two symptoms that point to the need to stay home. We would rather have them stay home for 24 hours after a fever to completely heal.
Please also call the school 794-7522 before 9:00 a.m. if your child is sick. Thank you!
