Ivan Green News
October 28, 2023
Welcome from Mr. Hiley
Dear Ivan Green Families:
Thank you for your participation in the Sock-tober event. It was fun to see each child's personality through their fun socks and backwards clothing! It was also really nice to see how many socks, mittens, and hats we collected!
The other highlight of the week was today's Community Circle. It was led by our second grade team and included lots of students in the production. We launched our BEAR reading program. You should have received information in your child's take-home folder about this. BEAR stands for Be Enthusiastic About Reading, and we are excited for your partnership in making it successful.
The majority of the assembly is linked below. I recorded it in segments and uploaded it to our YouTube channel. The link is private, which means only people with the link can see it. It is not searchable. I bet a lot of Ivan Green students would love to rewatch it, especially those who starred in the production!
We hope to see lots of you this weekend at our Scoot-Tacular event. It will be fun! The details are below.
Sincerely,
Lucas Hiley. Ed.D.
Principal

Erin's Law Presentations from Bivona Child Advocacy Center
Bivona uses the Monique Burr Foundation for Children (MBF) Curriculum. MBF curriculums are comprehensive, evidence-based prevention education programs for students in grades K-12. Through the use of 5 universal safety rules and strategies following recommendations of poly-victimization research, the programs teach students and adults how to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to the four types of child abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, neglect), bullying, cyberbullying, and digital dangers. Each uses active learning strategies and reinforcement materials and are age and developmentally appropriate.
The MBF programs help schools meet the NYS Erin’s Law mandate metrics as well as required bullying and online safety prevention requirements. For more information about Erin’s Law in NYS please click here. All three programs are offered in Monroe county via either direct instruction or Train the Trainer, in partnership with BOCES-2 CoSer agreements.
More information about the school-based resources provided by Bivona can be found on their website: School Programs — Bivona Child Advocacy Center (bivonacac.org)
