  • Happy Birthday, Cathy Crain!

There has been some discussions about leaving devices on chargers over the Winter Break.

After estimating power consumption / cost and considering what is “most healthy” for your devices, the guidance for Friday is:

1. Secure all devices as recommended in the most recent Principal’s iROCK Update from Chris Smith. This applies to both faculty AND staff – not just teachers!

iPads (and also Laptops, iPODS, cell phones, etc.) should not be left “out” in view of anyone who MAY be able to occupy your space during the break.

Your confidence of access control is the deciding factor on where to store devices. Are you sure you know who has the key/combination?

2. Devices less than 80% charged and needed the morning after the break can be left hooked to their chargers over the break (while secure!)

3. For devices over 80% charged by the time you leave Friday, please consider securing them without being hooked to chargers over the break.

These devices will hold their charge over the break and should be available for use the first morning back.

(TIP: Its usually better for the batteries in these devices NOT to leave them hooked to the charger when they are already full or mostly charged)

4. ADDITIONAL TIP: Chargers for iPADS, Laptops, cell phones or other portable devices that are left plugged into a power bar or outlet but NOT connected to the device itself STILL draw power.

Please unplug these “uncharging chargers” – they waste thousands of dollars per year in our schools!

Thank you all so much for caring for our students and for preserving our citizens’ property and conserving our resources for the future! Have a safe and joyous Holiday.

Guidance Corner - January - Cooperation

Work with others to accomplish a goal. Respect your classmates and your group. Do your part, encourage others, listen and use compromise.

Ice Cream

Many know that we had an internal financial audit today. We got a great report (Thank you Glenda and Kim)! The only area where suggestions for improvement were made was in the area of ice cream. We are currently exploring ways to easily keep up with how many students purchase ice cream from each class daily. If you have ideas for a simple way that is not time consuming for keeping up with this, please feel free to email your ideas to Crystal and Rhonda. More to come...

RtI Conversations

Jo will be sending out a sign up sheet for January 17, a teacher workday. This sheet will be for classroom teachers to sign up for a time to come and meet with administration and other members of the RtI team regarding students going through RtI. We will be discussing student needs, resources, interventions, etc.

Peer Observations

Teachers who are in their first or second year of teaching or who are new to the district and would like to observe another teacher at IHES should feel free to contact Rhonda Kelsey to cover your class to provide you with this opportunity. Please schedule who you would like to observe and then provide several dates to Rhonda so she can check her calendar for availability.
