STEM Fun and Coming Up in February

Three Little Pigs STEM

Kindergarten students spent the past couple of weeks working through the STEM Process to design houses for the Three Little Pigs. Students used cooperation in small groups to design, build, and test their house. The Big Bad Wolves (Mrs. Carney, Miss Hill, and Mrs. Morrash) used a blowdryer to try to blow down the houses. Check out our video below to see the STEM Process and your child's house! Coming up soon, students will discuss what worked and did not work well in their design, use cooperation to redesign, build, and test a second house!

Making Math Meaningful - The Bear Country Credit Union

In February, students will begin a unit on money. We will identify coins and their values and use skip counting to count pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. A visitor from the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union will come to our classrooms to read us The Berenstain Bears Trouble with Money and teach us new vocabulary - earn, save, spend, share. Then, we will take a field trip to the "Bear Country Credit Union" to complete activities about earning, saving, spending, and sharing our money. We can't wait!

Visit the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union's Website for more information and photos!
