Leadership in WCPS
MSDE Course: Student-Centered Instruction- I co-created and taught how to lead a student-centered classroom before student-centered was a hot topic. Teachers throughout the county engaged in protocols, processes, new strategies, and reflective conversations to improve their practice.
MSDE Course: Danielson Framework for Teaching- I created a 3 credit course that promotes close reading of the Danielson books in order to truly understand the Framework with a goal of improved practice. Teachers and administrators across the county, K-12, implement and reflect on a new practice every week. The class becomes a professional learning community dedicated to inquiry, reflection, and collaboration.TIF- I was an active participant of the Teacher Incentive Fund grant, serving as a county level Power II team member all five years.
Lead Teacher Leadership Team- I collaborated with a small group of Lead Teachers (K-12) to create a Lead Teacher and New Teacher binder as a resource used throughout the county.
Essential Curriculum Planning Council- The Chief Academic Officer requested my leadership on a small team created with the goal of developing an aligned K-12 curriculum for all WCPS schools. I have been privileged to extend this goal to an amazing Task Force of teachers who are developing a teacher directed and teacher driven curriculum focused on understanding. Dr. Peggy Pugh has supported the continuation of this work. I will be leading a county-wide professional development effort this summer as we support schools in creating the Comprehensive Arrangement of Standards for the Essential Curriculum.
