What's Heating Up at Holy Spirit
June 14-18
Let everything that has breath praise the lord. praise the lord. - Psalm 150:6-
Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
The reign of God is like a mustard seed.
Many of the things we do within the family may seem insignificant. Yet they show our love and concern for one another. According to the Gospel, it’s these small things that yield big results, acting as significant contributions to the growth of God’s kingdom on earth. The growth of the seed in the parable illustrates the nature and the results of a strong faith.
As a family talk about your concerns for those members of our community who are poor, forgotten, hungry, ill, shunned, or lonely. Together think of a specific action that you can do to assist a person in your extended family, neighborhood, or parish.

*Other creative and appropriate presentations are welcome.
Loose Parts Play
What is Loose Parts Play you ask?
Loose Parts Play involves simple, affordable, everyday materials repurposed for play. Essentially, "loose parts" are materials that can be moved, carried, stacked or manipulated. The research behind Loose Parts Play suggests that the level of discovery, creativity and inventiveness within an environment is improved by the amount and variety of flexible materials within it. Check out what it looks like in this 2 minute video.
When children play this way, they…
Figure out things for themselves, and learn how to take healthy risks.
Find innovative ways to think about the world and how it works, based on their own self-led, intrinsically motivated interests.
Practice necessary skills such as overcoming obstacles, creative problem solving (on their own or with other children), communicating their feelings effectively with others, and working with those who may have difference points of view.
Experience the joy of self discovery, the thrill of being able to pursue their own creative ideas without the fear of failure that usually arises when there is one, predetermined way to be “right” or to “win”.
We need your help and are looking for some items (Rule of thumb for outdoor loose parts play: Bigger is better; similar or greater height, weight and size as the child). If you have any of these items please make arrangements with the school to drop them off.

Driftwood, Large stones, Lumber, Pinecones, Rocks, Seeds, Shells, Sticks, Stones, Wood (stumps, logs)
Recycled materials:

Demographic Forms (updated instructions)
As the school year comes to an end we would like to inform you that it’s time to update your child’s EICS Demographic Confirmation Form for the year 2021-2022. Alberta Education requires that we obtain a detailed update of student demographics on an annual basis. Funding they provide for your child`s education is conditional to us receiving these updates and making them part of the student`s record. We ask that you complete this form in PowerSchool by June 23.2021.
You can perform the following steps to access, review and submit the form:
Log into PowerSchool at https://powerschool.eics.ab.ca
Under the "Forms and Fees" menu click "SchoolEngage Student Forms"
Click the Graduation hat icon to see list of your students
For each student who is returning to EICS next year please click on the student, click New beside the form "A9)Demographic Confirmation/Update Form" and complete and submit the form.
There is a short video that will show you the steps as well. https://www.eics.ab.ca/parents-and-students/school-registration
Please contact Mrs. Posavec at 780-416-9526 if you need any help.
We would like to thank you in advance for completing these forms.
