Gator Greetings
We were proud to celebrate Allisonville at the School Board Meeting on Wednesday night. Thank you to everyone that joined and listened to the presentation. Congratulations to Bridgette Dinnsen, Angela Reid, and our furry friends from Love On A Leash, who all earned community awards at the school board meeting for helping make our school a great place to learn.
Thursday was an exciting day at Allisonville! Grade 4 participated in Field Day, 2nd and 3rd grade had fun at their Gator Jam, and we all celebrated International Dot Day where students learned about the importance of making their own mark (or dot) on the world. This is inspired by The Dot, a children’s book authored by Peter and Paul Reynolds. Our first grade students in technology were able to visit with the authors during a live Dot Day Broadcast from the MET in NYC and one of our students was even featured!
Teachers are looking forward to discussing current grades and students’ personal progress at Parent-Teacher Conferences next week. Please look for correspondence from your child’s teacher to sign up for a conference time. At Allisonville, we very much value the home-school partnership, so our goal is 100% connectivity for these fall conferences. To accommodate conferences, there will be an e-Learning Day on Wednesday, September 21st. Students will bring their Chromebooks home and will complete work at home that day through Canvas. Teachers will be sending more information about e-Learning home next week. I can’t wait to see many families at school for conferences!
Also next week, we will be celebrating Homecoming for North Central High School with dress up days. The students were able to vote on their favorite theme dress up days. Look for the graphic in the Gazette for specific information. North Central will play Carmel on Friday night for the football game. All families are invited to participate in the Homecoming Tailgate Party at 5:00pm before the game at 7:00pm. Look for the Allisonville sign so we can gather and show our Allisonville Alligator Spirit together!

Dyslexia Screening
Metropolitan School District of Washington Township screens all students per IN state guidelines in Grades K-2 for signs of Dyslexia as well as other reading difficulties in order to identify instructional needs. Assessments will be completed by the end of September, with results communicated to parents in early October.
Panorama Survey
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. As you may already be aware, building our social-emotional learning (SEL) skills is an important goal for our school this year. Students and teachers participate in several exercises to better understand these concepts and to reflect on how they perceive these skills in themselves.
This month we will be asking for your learner to reflect on their own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey they will be completing at school. The survey shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to complete.
The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on their confidence in themselves as learners, how they interact with others, if they feel a sense of belonging in their classroom and overall school climate.
We are asking that all of our students in grades 3-12 participate in the surveys, as their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. The responses to these surveys will be completely confidential. We are partnering with a third-party vendor called Panorama to support us in administering these surveys.
You can learn about the student surveys at the link HERE and for frequently asked questions refer to the link HERE. If you have any additional questions or concerns about the SEL survey, please don’t hesitate to contact our school’s survey coordinator, Beth Stewart at estewart@msdwt.k12.in.us or by calling our front office at 317-845-9441.
If you would like to use an interpreter to ask questions about the Panorama survey, please call our multilingual voicemail line at 317-259-5446, and one of our district interpreters will return your call.
