2022 Teacher Appreciation Breakfast

On Thursday we gathered together with teachers and staff for the 2022 Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Manuel Scott. Thank you to River Valley Ministerial Fellowship for hosting the breakfast! We would also like to thank Billy Stewart, Brent Williams, Dale Richardson, Gary Perry, and Bo Harvey for being a part of the morning program.

Back-to-School Transportation

As we prepare for the start of another school year, we want to share some important transportation reminders. We ask for your patience as everyone navigates their way around at the start of a new school year. Allow yourself extra travel time and be prepared for heavier than normal traffic.

Things to remember:
  • Be on the lookout for school zone signals & always obey the speed limit.
  • Be aware of children walking/biking to school in residential areas.
  • Never pass a bus loading/unloading children. Drivers in both directions must stop their vehicles & wait until the lights go off, the stop sign is back in place, & the bus is moving forward.
  • Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, & remain vigilant in school zones.
  • Watch out for school crossing guards & obey their signals.

Bus Riders
Before school starts, you should know where your bus starts and stops. Knowing the route will help you plan your morning routine and ensure you don't miss the bus!

View the bus route schedule here.
View the bus rules here.

Let's work together to keep everyone safe on the road!

School meals update

The federal government allowed schools to offer free meals to all students during the pandemic, but Congress did not extend this benefit for the next school year. Families that are eligible for free or reduced-price meals must apply to receive them, and all other students must pay full price for their meals.

The application process for free and reduced-price meals is now open. You can fill out the application here: https://www.almasd.net/Page/5078

Note: Only one application is needed per family. If you have multiple children, please list them all on one application.

How much are meals if the application is approved for reduced eligibility?
Breakfast: FREE for all enrolled students
Lunch: .40

How much are meals if the application is denied?
Breakfast: FREE for all enrolled students
Lunch: K-5 $2.30; 6-12 $2.50

If you have questions please contact Grace George, Child Nutrition Director, at (479) 632-4791 or by email at ggeorge@almasd.net.
