Student iPads-Care and Responsibility
Guardians,
There are a few issues and concerns that are on the rise at BSE and we are asking for your help to address and reinforce iPad safety and responsibility with your child. Families are charged for missing screen covers, cases, and damaged iPads.
1. Students are removing plastic screen covers from iPad cases. This is the plastic that protects the glass from damage. There is a $10 damage charge if the plastic cover is not returned with the case at the end of the school year. This is the district cost to replace the cover for the next student who rents the iPad. There is a document on the HSE website called “Rental Costs and Insurance” that has more details. It can be found on the district website by navigating to Academics> Technology in the Classroom. We have also shared this will all teachers to share with students that it is important to keep rented iPads in their cases, with protective screen covers on, and to handle with care.
2. The expectation is for students to leave cases on iPads at all times. No case increases the chance of a damaged iPad if dropped or bumped.
