If you are interested in nominating your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Nominations will be accepted through December 18. You may request a nomination form from the front office or Counselor. You can also find the nomination form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.

Positivity Project

This week's character strength focus is Perspective.

Perspective is our Positivity Project trait for the week.

Perspective means you appreciate when people see things in

different ways. You have the ability to

understand the world from multiple points of

view.

Perspective is also referred to as wisdom and is distinct

from intelligence. People with this strength are sought out

for advice because they see the big picture and can make

sense of the world’s complexity. This strength of

perspective gives individuals the ability to see to the heart

of difficult matters and achieve clarity. Most importantly,

they are honest and behave in an ethically consistent

manner.

Perspective is usually gained over time, as one

accumulates more knowledge and experiences. However,

developing perspective is not only a matter of time. It

comes from truly listening to others when they talk and

working to understand new points of view when reading
books, listening to stories, or watching movies.

Resuable Grocery Bags Wanted

Bus Cards for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Students

Giesinger Families,

In a continued effort to increase student safety, the transportation department in conjunction with Giesinger Elementary is implementing Pre-K and Kindergarten bus cards.

Parents, designated adult, or approved sibling must be at the bus stop with the yellow card to receive Pre-K and/or kindergarten students. If no one is there to receive the student, they will be returned to school. It is the responsibility of the parent to pick up the student(s) from the school.

This week, yellow bus rider cards will go home with our current bus students. If you need an additional sign or have changed your student's transportation to the bus, please email your child's teacher and we will get you a sign sent home.

We are excited about this new step in ensuring our pre-k and kindergarten students are connected to the correct people at their bus stop.

Thank you,

Giesinger Elementary

Morning Arrival and Afternoon Dismissal

To ensure safety of our students and families, please stay in your car during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Our car line begins at 7:30a.m. for arrival and 3:10p.m. for dismissal. Please do not park along White Oak Blvd. and walk your children to school. The car line will get better and it is safer for everyone if we follow the same procedures. Students walking and biking to school live within one mile of Giesinger. We ask that students either ride the school bus or get dropped off in our car line if they live farther than the one mile radius of our school. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. The safety of our students, staff, and families is the number one priority.

Please do not park on White Oak Blvd during arrival and dismissal times. To ensure the safety of everyone, please unload and load all students from our car line.

Register for Bus Transportation

If your child is riding a school bus, then please confirm that he/she is registered through Transportation. In order to do that, go to www.conroeisd.net. Click on the Parents/Students tab at the top of the page. Then go to the Transportation link under the Parent Resources column.

You will be able to register for bus transportation online, confirm your child’s bus number, and also have the accurate pick-up and drop-off times.

Transportation Changes

After emailing, please call the front office to verify that it was received.

Our phone number is 936-709-2600

We will not make any transportation changes after 2:30 pm. Early pick-up also ends at 2:30 pm. so that we can alleviate any last minute confusion. Please try to schedule appointments after school.

Attendance and Tardies

Attendance: Our school-wide attendance has been great! On average, 98% of our students have been present each day this year. Attendance is the number one indicator of student success. The instruction and learning that occur on a daily basis in the classroom is our central mission. Parents who make regular school attendance and punctuality a high priority are helping their children learn to accept responsibility, which is an important lesson for a successful life. We encourage students to become N.E.A.T. Kids—Never Ever Absent or Tardy. Students with no absences or tardies each grading period will receive a certificate and participate in a fun celebration. We strive for all our students to arrive at school before 8:00 each and every day!

Tardies: Our school doors open at 7:30 a.m. and may go to the cafeteria for breakfast or to their classroom to begin their day. Students are tardy if they are not in the builing at 8:00 a.m. Our instructional school day begins at 8:00 a.m and teachers/staff leave the front porch at 8:00 a.m.

Please email our front office for attendance questions at giesinger@conroeisd.net or Mrs. Rickwalt, the registrar, at rrickwalt@conroeisd.net. You may also call the front office at 936-709-2600.

Morning Arrivals on the Front Porch

Students should not arrive at Giesinger before 7:30 AM. Before this time, staff members are not on duty to supervise students. Our doors open at 7:30 and staff members will not be on the front porch to unload students from cars until 7:30. Your cooperation in dropping your student beginning at 7:30 is needed and appreciated. Thank you.

Safety Drills

Just like we practice walking in the halls, washing our hands before lunch, and following our safety rules on the playground, our school practices monthly safety drills to know what to do should an emergency arise. Our drills include fire drills, lockdown, lockout, evacuate, and shelter drills. Our district uses the Standard Response Protocol when practicing drills or in a true emergency situations. This protocol helps to standardize the vocabulary so all stakeholders involved share a common language. We encourage you to talk to your children about what to do both at school and at home in the event of an emergency. The safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priority.

School Cash Online

For safety and efficiency reasons, Conroe ISD would like to reduce the amount of cash and checks coming into schools. Please join the many parents who have already registered and are enjoying the convience of paying online. It takes only minutes to register. Please follow the attached step-by-step instructions, so you will begin to receive email notifications regarding upcoming events involving your children.
