THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!

We want to say thank you to everyone from PTSA that helped with the sign up and making/bringing food for all of our staff during Parent Teacher Conferences. We know how much work and time consuming this can be and we are very appreciative that we have the PTSA and all the help they and parents provide.

Also, thank you to all the parents who came and met with their students teachers to see how they are progressing and doing the first quarter of school. It was so great to see and meet everyone.

💬 TELL US HOW WE DID 💬 TELL US HOW WE DID

Platte County School District is conducting its annual parent survey to gather feedback on strengths of the district, as well as areas to consider for growth. Your input is important and will be considered when making future decisions.

If you have not already completed the survey during Parent/Teacher conferences, we ask that you complete the survey by clicking on the link below. If you have more than one student, please be sure to answer those questions for each building. The survey should take approximately fifteen minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

CHARACTER STRONG FAMILY DARES

Every week students go through a Character Strong lesson that help build on our 8 traits: honesty, forgiveness, commitment, kindness, humility, selflessness, patience, and respect. Starting shortly students will be asked to complete a Student Character Dare. These are to help build on practices that are taught in our weekly lesson. Some dares can be as simple as asking someone new to join their table to reaching out to someone students look up to and writing them a letter.

We are encouraging each family to complete the monthly Family Dare. Each Family Dare offers parents, guardians, and families the opportunity to engage in challenges designed to increase connection and conversation at home. These dares also provide students with more opportunities to practice habits discussed in class.

November''s Family Dare is Take 5.

Take 5 minutes in the morning to share (and have everyone in the family share) 1 thing they are grateful for today.

If you take a picture of your family completing the dare, please send pictures to Amy Gardner at gardnera@platteco.k12.mo.us. She will post pictures on Social Media and we can showcase them on our TV's at school.

Pirates R.O.C.K. Character Trait: Citizenship (November)

Pirates ROCK (Raising Outstanding Character Kids) is a program designed to surround our families with examples of strong character traits through school experiences, at home, and reinforced in their community. Each month our community focuses on a specific character trait and students are recognized for exhibiting these traits: Self Confidence, Pride, Responsibility, Citizenship, Compassion, Individuality, Self Control, Integrity, Perseverance, Respect, Honesty, and Cooperation.

September's #PiratesROCK trait is Citizenship: providing service and duty to your community.

Lost and Found Items

Barry Families,

If you think your student might have left or lost something at school (clothes, shoes, hats, etc.), please have them look in the lost and found for their missing items. We will have them available to look through until the end of next week. After next Friday, November 11 we will be donating them.

Women's Cut Tees

We have received a lot of customer feedback regarding sizing for our Bella Canvas women's cut slim fit tees. This style runs extremely small, with people generally needing to order 2 sizes larger than normal in order for them to fit properly. Because of this, we are switching our Bella Canvas women's cut tees to relaxed fit, which have great reviews and a much truer fit! This update will be live online this week. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Commission Reporting

We are now including your year to date commission amount in the weekly update emails. This is in addition to the quarterly commission and garment quantity that has traditionally been included. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Direct Deposit Reminder

We are transitioning to ACH direct deposit for commission payments. If you haven't already done so, please use this encrypted form to setup your direct deposit authorization for Platte County Schools: https://1stplace-spiritwear.formstack.com/forms/directdeposit

Social Work Corner Social Work Corner

Hello Barry Families,

As the school social worker, I want to ensure I am meeting the needs of the students and families that make up this great community. One way of doing this is by getting direct feedback from you. I sent out an email to every family this week requesting you to complete a brief survey on a Google form. This will allow families to identify areas where support is needed and also express interest in programs available in the district. This survey also provides an opportunity for families to give back to their school community and help fellow Pirate families. If you did not receive the email, please contact me at mayss@platteco.k12.mo.us and I will send the information again. Some of my emails were returned as undeliverable, therefore, an updated email address is needed.

For those who have completed the form, thank you for your feedback! I will be in touch with those requesting contact and I look forward to working with you.

Sarah Mays, School Social Worker mayss@platteco.k12.mo.us 816.436.9623 ext 3121
