A Message from the Parent Center

The Parent Center wants to take time to thank all our parent and community volunteers that have assisted us with working with our students in various areas. We are definitely in need of more volunteer to work with our teachers and students. A special thank you to the Huff Family that provided breakfast to the entire Shiloh Middle School Staff, we truly appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Volunteer Form

We want everyone to be on the lookout for great programs that will begin in the New Year. Here are some of the programs that will be available:

  • math classes for our parents
  • ESOL classes
  • mentoring programs for our students
  • so much more.

Take time to come and visit the Parent Center between the hours of 9:30am to 3:30pm to learn more about these programs.

If you need assistance with getting on the Parent Portal, registering for My Payments Plus, getting community resources etc, this is the place to seek help. The Parent Center also has books and activities for you to check out to assist your child(ren). in areas where they may need help.

Over this holiday, take time to review and discuss The Plan The Promise with your child(ren).

Happy Holidays to each of you and we look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

Inclement Weather Procedures

As we enter the winter season, it is important to know what to expect from GCPS in case of inclement weather. If weather conditions pose a potential safety concern, the decision to cancel school or delay opening might be made.

It is more likely for school to be canceled in the early morning — due to dangerous road conditions that formed overnight — than for school to let out early because bad weather is moving in.

If bad weather causes school to be canceled or dismissed early, public announcements will be made on GCPS TV, on the school system’s website (www.gcpsk12.org), on Twitter and Facebook, through SchoolMessenger calls and optional texts, and via metro-Atlanta radio and television stations. Full-day cancellations usually are announced by 6 a.m.

GCPS TV can be found on the following Gwinnett County cable channels:

  • Charter - Channel 180

  • Comcast - Channel 24 or 26 (depending on location)

  • Visit us on our GCPS TV app on Apple, Android, Amazon Fire, and Roku devices or view the live stream at GCPSTV.org

You can access current or potential weather hazards for north and central Georgia here.

Medical Authorization

A parent or guardian must bring any / all medications to the school and fill out a medication administration form. Students are not allowed to carry any medications with them at school or on the bus. This includes any over the counter medication, for example; cough drops, Tylenol, etc. If you would like your child to have any OTC medication left in the clinic, you must bring to school with a completed medical authorization form.

To give us authorization to give your student their medication you will need to complete the Medication Authorization Form. You may print it, complete it, and bring it in or you can pick one up to complete in the clinic. A separate form is required for each individual medication.

If your student requires an inhaler and/or an Epi-pen you will need to complete the appropriate form.

For your student to be permitted to carry their inhaler and/or Epi-pen on their person, their physician will need to complete the section of our form advising us of their authorization. If the student will be carrying their inhaler and/or Epi-pen on their person, we ask that you also provide the clinic with a backup in case one is needed.

Meet the Shiloh Middle School Counseling Department

Why Middle School Counselors?

Middle school students are characterized by their rapid physical growth, curiosity about their world, and an emerging self-identity. Middle school counselors have an impact on these years by implementing a school counseling program and collaborating with school staff, parents, and the community to create a safe, respectful learning environment whereby young adolescents can maximize personal and academic achievement.

Middle school counselors enhance the learning process and promote academic, career and social/emotional development. School counseling programs are essential for students to achieve optimal personal growth, acquire positive social skills and values, set informed career goals, and realize full academic potential to become productive, contributing members of the world community.
