Principal e-Note
Kennerly Elementary School

We hoped everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend with safe travels to visit family and friends! It's always nice to slow things down and give thanks for our blessings! We are looking forward to the return of our students and staff this week! December is a busy, fast month of us. Please be sure to read the upcoming events that will take place at Kennerly and within our district!
Please note that the weather is changing and our students will be going outside for recess. Please be sure to dress students appreciate for the weather.
Staying Healthy During Flu Season
The holiday season means an increased risk for respiratory illness, but there are steps we can take to stay healthy.
Stay home when you are sick. This is the most important way to keep our friends and coworkers safe and protected.
Testing is one of our best tools to prevent the spread of COVID-19, along with getting vaccinated and boosted.
Learn when and how to take an at-home COVID-19 test here.
The CDC recommends that children age 6 months and older should get a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. The CDC also recommends boosters for children age 5 and up, at least 5 months after their second shot.
The CDC estimates that between 6,000 and 26,000 children younger than 5 are hospitalized each year in the United States due to influenza. The flu vaccine is safe and helps protect children from flu.
Did you know? Improving ventilation in your home can help you reduce virus particles and prevent respiratory viruses from spreading.
Pancakes and Pajamas
Join the Kennerly PTP and DOK for Pancakes and Pajamas on Saturday, December 3. There will be games, crafts, photo opportunities and more. Reserve your breakfast time slot on PT Board. Plan to come before or stay after your breakfast time slot to enjoy all the winter fun and activities. Penguin Patch will also be open!
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! In order to make Pancakes and PJs a success we need your help. When reserving your breakfast time slot please consider volunteering for one (or two) of the volunteer time slots. 5th graders and older siblings that need volunteer hours are encouraged to sign up.
Also while signing up you can DONATE! Help Adopt a Kennerly Family in need. The past year has been very difficult for many families at Kennerly. If you can, please add a donation to your Pancakes and Pajamas sign up.

Nominate a Special Lindbergh Teacher for #TeacherProud Tuesday
Calling all students, parents, and community members: Lindbergh Schools wants your nominations for #TeacherProud Tuesday! Tell us about a teacher who works in our schools who has made a difference in your life, and they might be selected to be featured on social media as part of #TeacherProud Tuesday, a statewide social media initiative that is designed to recognize outstanding teachers and promote public education. On the second Tuesday of each month, Missouri school districts will recognize a #TeacherProud Tuesday honoree for going above and beyond, and making a difference in the lives of students.

Senior Citizens are Invited to Celebrate the Holidays!
Lindbergh Schools will host a holiday Senior Associates event at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the Lindbergh High School Auditorium (5000 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, Mo. 63126). Enjoy entertainment from featured performers, The Mads show choir. Senior Associates is a free community program open to all senior citizens in the Lindbergh School District. How to Email Your Student’s Teacher
Communicating with your student’s teacher is easy to do, even if you don’t have their email address. This summer, Lindbergh Schools has removed teacher email addresses from the public-facing district website in response to security recommendations our district Technology Department received from the Department of Homeland Security, to help prevent malicious phishing attempts. However, teacher contact information is still available in the SIS Portal and Canvas, by following these directions:
SIS Portal (Grades PK-12)
Log in to the SIS Portal
Click “Send Email” in the left-hand menu
Select which teacher(s) you want to message by checking the box next to their name
Click “Ok”
On the next page, fill out the subject line and text of your message
Click “Send”
Canvas (Grades 6-12, and some elementary)
Lindbergh teacher contact information is listed on each Canvas course homepage. This information includes e-mail address, phone extension and office hours. If your student’s teacher does not have their contact information listed, please let us know.

‘What School Could Be’: Board of Education Readalong
Lindbergh Schools Board of Education members invite the community to join them in reading “What School Could Be,” by Ted Dintersmith. The board will read this book during the 2022-23 school year and discuss it during quarterly Board Workshops.
“What School Could Be” is an inspiring account of teachers in ordinary circumstances doing extraordinary things, engaging and inspiring students, and helping them develop purpose, agency, essential skill sets and mindsets, and deep knowledge. The insights of these teachers offer a vision of what school could be, and a model for how to help schools achieve it.
Please fill out the form below to request a copy of the book, or click here to learn more about it.

Foundation Florida Fundraiser
The Lindbergh Schools Foundation is having their Florida Vacation Fundraiser once again this year. To learn more about this fun opportunity, please visit the Foundation website.

Parent Pick Drop Off & Pick Up:
If you are driving your child(ren) to school, please follow our parent drop off and pick up route. Please DO NOT park on Sunset Drive to pick up or drop off students. Thanks for help!
- Students should not arrive at school before 8:40
- Please practice caution and put cell phones away during student drop off and pick up
- Please put your car in park when students are loading and unloading into cars
- Please have students enter on the passenger side
- Parents/guardians please remain in your car
- When on Kennerly Road and waiting to enter the school's parking lot, please put on your hazard/flasher light to alert on coming drivers. Thanks.
Please be sure your child knows how they are getting home from school. I know teachers have reached out to confirm. Safety is our top priority and we want to make sure dismissal goes smoothly.
