Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports/Multi-Tiered System of Supports Newsletter

What is a PBIS and/or MTSS?

Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is an organized framework that supports school staff in their efforts to move from a reactive to a proactive approach to behavioral interventions.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is also known as Response to Intervention or RtI. This is an every-education decision-making framework of evidence-based practices in instruction and assessment that addresses the needs of all students.

The PBIS/MTSS team consist of members from the administration, central office personnel, staff, parent, and student population. The team meets approximately six to eight times a year to review school academic and behavioral data. The team makes recommendations to ensure that all student needs are being addressed adequately. Meeting minutes are shared at least once a quarter during Staff and PTA meetings.
