Wasco Families,

One step closer to our goal! We added the first piece to our Snowman by passing over 500 iReady lessons last week. We have 18 more pieces to add and our students are working hard to help us succeed!

Also, Wasco has several upcoming events, and we hope you will join us as a learning community to both learn together and have fun!

Kind Regards,

Principal Stephanie Brennan

News from our LRC

Digital Citizenship lessons have begun in the LRC with Mrs. Furlong, our LRC Director/Media Specialist. While students in grades 3-5 have more in-depth lessons, Mrs. Furlong will introduce appropriate topics for students in grades 1 and 2 to be more aware of how to stay safe and have fun while using online games or sites. The week your student begins their first lesson, a family letter will be sent electronically through the classroom teacher. Each lesson includes an optional family activity, which will be provided as a handout to the classroom teacher to be sent home, the week of each visit.

In D303, "Internet safety education must include lessons on cyberbullying awareness and response as well as teaching appropriate online behaviors for students on social networking sites and in chat rooms. This policy will be addressed through the implementation of the digital citizenship curriculum with lessons including the following topics: search engines, cyberbullying, copyright/plagiarism, safe social networking use and website validity." Wasco CHAMPS expectations

This month we are spending time revisiting our School-wide Expectations throughout the building and within our classrooms. Our district supports the use of CHAMPS as a proactive approach to classroom management. Each day of the week our teachers are reviewing the different common areas of our school and talking about the importance of following the expectations. Each week we will share with you these expectations so that you can continue the conversation at home. Please review the Recess and Playground CHAMPS Expectations below. Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration.

A Note From The Nurse

Just a reminder when a student sees a physician for any reason i.e. cast, stitches, respiratory issues and/or medication, the health office requires a note from that doctor's visit. This way we will be able to properly take care of your student while in school.
