Sunset Weekly News
September 18th - 22nd
Message From Mrs. Hafey
Please be sure to have your Daily Learning Targets posted so that the path is clear for YOU and your students!
I will be in and out of your rooms this week during Reading Rotations to offer support and brainstorm ideas so that we can meet the needs of EVERYONE! I would encourage each of you to stop and take a look in the Literacy Room at our Data Board - there are MANY blue zoned students! Let's lead ALL our students to the blue zone!!!! We need to remember this population in our rotations as well!!!
Please snap a picture and send it to me of your students and the new playground equipment so I can get a Thank You to SAPP and PAC! (Thank you Kathy for your fun picture!)
Rock Garden has been 'planted' in the front walk in foyer! Please take a moment and parade your kids through and remind them that we appreciate each of their uniqueness that they bring to Sunset!
Have a super week! Lov ya all....
Hafey :)
Mission: Sunset will educate and inspire students to thrive in an environment of change.

Welcome
Start Collecting....
Hello there.... Hoping you all will want to participate again this year....
Every year, my NHS students participate in Trunk or Treat. This year they will do it during the downtown Trick or Treating on October 31st from 4-6pm. Trunk or Treat is when the students decorate their cars and themselves with a theme and then hand out candy to the trick or treaters......
So....They need A LOT of candy.... in the past, NHS buys some candy and they buy it out of their own pockets..the issue is, they still run out of candy. Last year the four schools donated 111 pounds of candy. We are hoping for 200 pounds of candy this year - if the schools can hit the 200 pound goal, we will have TWO PRIZES FOR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS! (See below)
Here's where you come in: We would like to have a contest between the elementary teachers to see which elementary teachers and paras can donate the most candy to NHS for the Trunk or Treat contest....
There are two prizes this year!
1. The elementary school who wins will have the entire NHS group at their disposal to do whatever you would like for an hour - these are 32 high achieving, fantastic role models for your students at your disposal for whatever you all decide. My NHS kids can come all together or in smaller groups rotating or all at the same time... whatever you would like.
OR
2. The MCHS cast of Annie will come to your school to perform 20-30 minutes of the musical to the students in your school.
If you can remember back to last year - we WON this event and had the students come and benefited greatly from their time here at Sunset!!!! Let's do it again!!!

AR360
We will continue with this subscription! Just another resource! If you are interested in using this, but need additional support, please let me know! Sarah H. from East has purchased some AR360 Training. - they purchased access to online modules with a few "touchpoints" throughout the year (consultant phone calls). This may be a great resource to tap into!
Classroom Schedules
Hallway Behavior
With that said, I'd like to let you know that I am going to ask our One on One para's to use this time to review learning opportunities as they are transitioning - as their transition times may be a little bit more timely than a classroom's. They will be cognitive of the testing that may be happening in the hallway - but will be conversing with their student as they are moving!
Let me know if you have questions or clarifications!
Apple T.V.'s
As of this point of time, I have narrowed the T.V.'s to go in the following classrooms:
Intervention Room, Zimmerman's room, and Tatman's room! If we can get a great deal, we'll get a fourth T.V. which will go to M.Jones's room!
If you have any question or concern or feedback in regards to this decision, I'm open to hearing it!
T-Shirt Update
PARCC Celebrations: 3rd adn 4th graders (from last year)
THANK YOU TILILA for your MAPS support! YOU ROCK!
