Douglass Weekly Updates 11/02-11/06

Douglass Elementary KCKPS 2020-2021

You Asked, We Listened!

Parents. You have asked and we listened. In our surveys, you requested additional instructional time for certain areas and we made the adjustments for our families.

· Parents asked for additional math time in 3rd grade and our 3rd grade teachers increased the instructional time for math and also created on-line study hall opportunities for students to complete work.

· Our 1st grade teachers increased their instructional time.

· The 2nd grade teachers added more live learning time and small group reading time that will begin November 9th.

· Kindergarten teachers extended their office hours and their small group instruction.

· Our 5th grade teachers added an additional hour for reading groups from 2:30 – 3:30 Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays beginning in second quarter in addition to their other live learning. The 5thgrade teachers will still have office hours on those days from 3:30 – 4:30.

Hot Spot Reminder

Hot spots given to families from the district only have 10GB of data available for use, so please remember to only use these hot spots for student online learning!

These hot spots refresh their data on the 14th of every month!

Behavior Health Team Virtual Office

Our Behavioral Health Team has created a virtual office for families to use at their leisure. Click around on the different areas of the office, and certain items will take you to an external link. Some of the objects linked will allow you to directly email our school counselor or school social worker, take you to mindfulness exercises and other fun things (live animal cameras, coloring pages, etc.) as well as links to district sites. Please note: since some of the shortcuts included in the virtual office link to outside sites that are not affiliated or monitored by the district, please preview the links prior to ensure you approve of the content.
