Tutoring after school with Mrs. Akin will begin this Wednesday, 9/12. Specific students will be encouraged to attend. However, this session is open to all students who would like additional practice with reading skills. Students should be picked up promptly at 3:30 on the side of the school where carpool is normally. Please email or message Mrs. Akin through DOJO if your child plans to attend this week.

Students may use their genre classwork, notes in their reading notebooks, or the attached overview to prepare for this quiz.

On Tuesday, 9/25 students will experience life as early immigrants to the United States through our Ellis Island Simulation. To do this we need lots of volunteers. If you are able to give TWO HOURS of your time, we would love it if you would sign up on the Sign Up Genius. Also, if you are able to volunteer and you speak another language please contact Mrs. Akin or Ms. Hicks in advance. If you are not able to volunteer two full hours, you are welcome to come and observe as long as you are able, but please do not sign up on the Sign Up Genius. This really is a very memorable and meaningful experience for 5th grade students. We appreciate you helping to make this possible.

Ms. Preiss & Ms. France's homerooms will go through the simulation from 8:00-9:30. Volunteers should arrive promptly at 7:30 AM so that we can properly train you on your station.

Mrs. Akin & Ms. Hick's homerooms will go through the simulation from 12:00-1:30. Volunteers should arrive promptly at 11:30 AM so that we can properly train you on your station.
