Cool Tech Tool: Sock Puppets

Sock Puppets

Sock Puppets

Sock Puppets can be used across contents and grade levels. This app is fun and easy to use for storytelling and creating! Below are a few ideas for how Sock Puppets might be used in your classroom.

Students/teachers can create puppet shows to:

  1. Explain a science concept.
  2. Retell a story.
  3. Tell about an event from history.
  4. Share information about a famous person.
  5. Model appropriate social behavior.
  6. Tell jokes. (Knock-knock jokes work well!)

Athens City Schools Elementary Tech Integration

#ACSPowerUP

Great things are happening in Athens City Elementary Schools! This week was full of learning across our district. Check out some of the happenings below:

First Grade Film Makers!

Mrs. Ward's first graders at BES are creating iMovies to share what they are learning in their Sound Unit. Check out one student's debut iMovie below. This project required a very small amount of teacher direction and a very large amount of student excitement!

ACS District Data Meeting & Classroom Visits

Lots of high quality teaching and learning were seen this week for the district data meeting and classroom visits at Cowart Elementary and Julian Newman Elementary. It was exciting to see that technology integration was plentiful! Examples of technology in action included: plentiful use of QR Codes, Project Based Learning, KeyNote presentations, research using Alabama Virtual Library (AVL), teacher and student use of Google Docs, and interactive student use of the Promethean Boards.
