Practice Changes
We are now using the Hammerly Long Course Pool 1-3 days per week. When school gets out, we will change to mornings at Hammerly and Cy Ranch in the evenings for all groups. We will only practice at Hammerly on Friday during June and July. Please check the calendar for your group, and look for REMIND texts.
The Heat is ON - HYDRATE!
It's that time again when the days get hot. It is so important as an athlete to stay hydrated all the time. Make sure you bring your water bottles to practice and meets and are drinking on a regular basis to achieve you best performances.
Congratulations Jackson Dement
Jackson was chosen to represent Gulf Swimming at the Summer Sanders Meet in San Francisco June 7-11. Swimmers from several states will compete.
Swim Technique - Breaststroke Keys!
The #1 important element is a straight body position with your eyes down! Great Swimmers never look forward, as their eyes are either down looking at the bottom during the reach phase, or looking at the water during the pull phase.
#2 Keep your head still!! Many swimmers move their head up during the pull to see where they are going. YOU ARE GOING TO THE OTHER END - you don't need to look!
#3 Keep you kick narrow - knees close together like a skinny W. Breaststroke is a slow stroke, and any mistakes add resistance and slow you down.
#4. Timing - there is no glide in breaststroke!!! Keep your arms moving. When your face hits the water begin your wide pull!
Goals, Goals, Goals!!!
What is your purpose when you show up to the pool? Why are you there?
Ask any swimmer if they want to get better - 100% say yes! Ask each swimmer if they know where they want to go - most stay I don't KNOW! Your are told at practice and meets the things you do well and things you need to work on. Working on the things you need to improve is the easiest way to improve.
Goal setting needs to be a habit. Know your splits. If you need to improve your turns, your fly, your back, your dolphin kick - you have numerous opportunities to improve at practice every day. Improving 1 thing could mean seconds.
Show up to practice with a goal in mind. Doing this daily will put you on the road to greatness. Improve at practice and RACE at MEETS!!
Swimmer of the Month
Gold Group-Jimmy Gavin - Jimmy has become one of the leaders of the gold group in both attitude and effort. He had outstanding performances in the Championship meets in both High School and with the Terrapins. His 500 time breaks the school record. He was 4th at the Open Water Carnival, less that 1 minute from the winner!
Copper-Kyler Cao is one of the super consistent and speedy swimmers on the Copper group. His stroke improve every practice and he is one of the fastest kickers on the team. Kyler has hit almost 100% best times throughout the season.
Green Group- Valerie Moultrie is the green swimmer of the month . Valerie has a great attitude every time she enters the pool. She has been putting in hard work every practice getting ready for meets. We can’t wait to see what she does this season.
Bronze Group- Alec Condo is the bronze swimmer of the month. Alec is a hard- working leader and all around good teammate to everyone in the bronze group. He has been training hard to meet the requirements to move up to the copper group. Alec puts in the time at the pool and during dry land. He is looking forward to the second long course meet coming up.

Our Amazing Sponsors
Wazel Properties
Attention Terrapin Parents:
I know we are always looking for ways to raise money for our awesome swim team. So, I thought this is a way I can help. y name is Leslie Nwaneri, and I am a REALTOR with Walzel Properties. I would be happy to donate $250 to the team from the closing of any referral you send my way. It does not have to be a team member. It could even be a cousin or a friend (you get the point). All they have to do is mention that they are a TTST referral, and I will handle the rest. If the referral happens to be someone who needs to sell a home and buy a home, that would count as 2 transactions. If that is the case, I would donate a total of $500 from the closing of the two transactions.
How it works
If you know of anyone looking to buy or sell a home, have them contact me at 281-513-3161 or leslie@leslienwaneri.com. I will meet with the referral and if they decided to use me as their REALTOR, the team will get a donation on your behalf at the closing of the sale. You do not have to do anything else other then refer. Thank you!
