St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 5 | 18 August 2023

Wellbeing Week comes and goes at St Bernie’s…
As with every Week 5 we have had a community focus on Wellbeing, and I am proud to say that our amazing Wellbeing Team and teachers have been leading the way! As a school we hope to be supporting you and your families to find a little extra Wellbeing in your week by encouraging you to strengthen your personal connections, by taking away the pressures of homework and adding a variety of little strategies into our school day to make sure our students come home happy and healthy from school each day. This week we have also been embedding strategies around our physical wellbeing by incorporating more movement breaks and dancing into our day!
There is a lot of research around how helping others can also greatly improve our wellbeing and this has been a focus of many of our staff. From a simple smile and hello in the morning, doing an extra duty at lunch, baking a slice for morning tea or, as some of us did this week, donating blood to help a stranger in need. It is amazing how even a small act of kindness can make everyone’s day just a little brighter!
This week we also had a focus on our spiritual wellbeing as we all took the time to attend mass for The Assumption of Mary over at the Church. I encourage everyone to take the time to participate and get involved in our Parish Community, on Saturday the 16 September we will be having our community mass lead by our Year 6 students. Everyone is encouraged and welcome and there will be a sausage sizzle for everyone after Mass.
Finally, thanks to everyone who came to the P&F Meeting this morning, another well attended meeting with lots to celebrate.
I hope you all have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week!

During the holidays Ibu Kristy and her children visited our Balinese Sister School in Kapal, Bali. They were welcomed with big smiles and big hearts. Here are a few pictures and fun facts about our Balinese friends.
- Students in Bali have just recommenced their schooling year (10th July) after a month-long break. They will not break again until the end of the year.
- They spent their first day back at school cleaning and reuniting with one another.
- There are 160 students ranging from Kindy up to Year 6.
- Their maximum class size is 32.
- School uniforms are red and white to match Indonesia's National colours.
- Welcoming dances and assemblies are very common, and students wear traditional dress during these times.
- Our year 5 and Ministry leaders wrote Pen Pal letters and made small gifts for the students which were hand delivered by Ibu Kristy and her family. The entire school were overjoyed by our generosity and our visit. They welcome any families or visitors to their school.
