A Message from Principal Nixon--June 8, 2021

Dear Northwoods Families,

As we prepare to close out the 2020-21 school year, I would like to take a minute to thank you all for another KOALATY year!

It goes without saying that this has been a very difficult year for everyone. I am immensely proud of the work our teachers and staff have done to ensure that our students have continued to learn and grow despite all of the challenges, changes, and obstacles they've faced along the way. Additionally, I would be remiss if I didn't recognize and thank YOU, our parents and families, for your ongoing support and involvement at home! We, as school staff, are genuinely appreciative of your efforts to keep your students engaged and on track. Thank you for your continued partnership!

On behalf of the Northwoods faculty and staff, I wish you a safe and healthy summer break. Take some time to disconnect and enjoy the calm.

Respectfully,

Joe Nixon

Principal

School Information

End of Year Parades:

Just like last year, we will be conducting two separate end-of-year parades to close out the 2020-21 school year. Both parades will take place on the morning of June 11th (rain or shine). Please see the informational flyers below for details.

Transportation for 21-22 School Year:

Transportation requests are now open for students who have enrolled for the 2021-22 school year and who wish to use bus service on a regular basis. You can find the 2021-2022 request form here: English & Español. You will need your child's student ID to complete this form.

The 2021-22 cut-off date for eligible families to request service (neighborhood or express service, as determined by student's school assignment) to ensure service on the first day of school is: July 19, 2021

*Service is not guaranteed for the beginning of the school year to families who request transportation services after the cut-off date. Requests received after the cut-off date will be processed in the order received. Transportation will make every effort to provide service using existing bus stops as quickly as possible.

Breakfast & Lunch for 21-22:

Breakfast and lunch will be available at no cost to students for the 2021-22 school year. While the district may be able to offer free meals to all students, it is very important for eligible parents to complete a meal benefits application because this data enables schools to obtain funding to provide other important educational resources to benefit students. Other benefits that are issued directly to families that have applied and are eligible for meal benefits may also be available (such as the P-EBT cash benefit). Beginning July 1, 2021 parents can complete a meal benefits application online at myschoolapps.com. Paper applications will also be available at all schools. More: www.wcpss.net/free-reduced-meals.

21-22 Before/After-School Care Options:

Before and after-school care will be available for students onsite at Northwoods for the 21-22 school year. The before-school program will be managed by Northwoods staff as it has been in the past. However, the after-school care program will be managed onsite by the Taylor Family YMCA. Registration information for both programs will be sent out over the summer.
