Earthquake PBL
How can we, as structural engineers, construct a two story house in California for Tony Stark that will withstand seismic activity?
Finished Product Earthquake PBL!
This was out finished product of what we built using popsicle sticks, clay, and string. We made a two story building made to withstand a earthquake. Our house survived the shake table, which was the final test.
Our drawing Roughdraft!
This was what we drew to go off of while building. Luckily, Mrs.Chappas told us it did not have to be exactly like this because that would be much to difficult. We tried our best to make ourmhouse like this, but it ended up looking very different.
Meeting the Requirements!
We made sure we met all requirements by measuring our final building. It had to be a specefic height to be able to recieve full credit. We measured it several times to make sure we would get full credit. In the end, we got a 40/30 on our wikiproject and design!
Atmosphere 30 Hands Project
For our 30 hands project, we had to use a new app called 30 hands. We researched things about global warming and climate change, and added pictures. We had to have 9 slides, so we made the slides,on Piccollage and then transported the, into 30 hands. We then wrote a script and recorded ourselves. This helped us learn about the atmosphere and fossil fuels. I really enjoyed this project because I love making Picollage's.
My title page.
3 signs of global climate change and my description of climate change.
Hownthese changes affect people, animals, and ecosystems.
Invention Convention
The Invention Convention is our most recent project. We got with groups of 2 or 3 people and had to research a problem with our enviornment. We then had to come up with a invention or innovation to figure out how we could solve this problem. We also got to draw our final product, as well as doing a written explanation of our idea. Our innovation works to solve the problem of too many landfills. Our innovation takes trash , turns it into ash using different methods like geothermal, and the ash, using mechanical pulping, is turned to metal. Then, the metal is turned to a giant fan that uses solar power to create energy.
Our Progression!
This is our progress during this project, because we were making a fan. This was just the beginning, because this was at the start of our project.
The Finished Product!!!!
This was our finished innovation, of our fossil fuel fan. It is basically a fan made out of recycled trash that was turned into ash using mechanical pulping, that is now a fan. It reduces landfills by using the trash to make these fans and create energy without using up our fossil fuels.
An Overview
This is the overview of our paper where we explained what our innovation was and our final project.
My Favorite Unit in Science
My favorite unit this year in science was the earthquake unit. Earthquakes were very interesting, like the strike and slip fault. The different faults were very cool and the pictures were too because of how they showed where the faults are.
Milky Way Lab
We used a milky way to show earthquake faults.
Faults is the Milky Way Lab
We broke the milky way so it showed us earthquake faults.
