YEARLY CLUSTER GOALS
JUDY MILLER HAS ISSUED US A CHALLENGE!
UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN
The United Way Campaign is underway for the 2016-2017 school year. Over the last two years, Waterford Elementary School has donated over $2,200.00! Since we raised over $1,200.00 last year, let's make our goal $1,300.00 for this year. Just think, if everyone on staff could give $18.00, we would easily meet our goal. Please consider donating to this outstanding cause. Jen will be placing the forms in your mailbox this week. Please fill out the form and return it to Jen by no later than Wednesday, October 12th.
SEPTEMBER ATTENDANCE WINNER
Congratulations to Lindsay Kehr’s third grade class for having the most “Perfect Attendance” days (all in class here, and on time) in September with 11 days. Congratulations Lindsay!!
Close behind Kristy Moberg’s third grade class and Allie St.Germain’s kindergarten class with 10 days.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent teacher conferences will be held on October 11th and 13th from 3:20 - 8:00 each evening. The expectation is that you will meet with all of your parents on one of these two days. If parents absolutely can't make it either of these 2 days, please schedule an additional time that week that works for them.

Opportunity to participate in a research study. Jill Bradley-Levine used to be the Director of Research at CELL (Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning), and she worked closely with Jen Oliver for the previous six years before leaving CELL to take a faculty position at Ball State in the Educational Studies department.
Nonetheless, she and Jen continued to discuss the ways that the TAP System and teacher evaluation in Indiana could be examined through research, especially since the TIF grant has come to an end in Indiana. In her new position, she has applied for and obtained a very small research grant that would allow me to do a case study of how the involvement of teacher leaders (e.g., master and mentor teachers in TAP districts) influences teachers' perceptions of the teacher evaluation process.
Goshen Community Schools has agreed to participate in this study, as we believe in “giving back” to the profession information that may help other educators make informed decisions. Jill launched her research efforts earlier this summer and early fall by interviewing some of our leadership team members. In the coming week, all GCS teachers will be receiving an email with a link inviting their participation in a BREIF survey. Teachers will have a few weeks to complete the survey. Please strongly encourage teachers to participate and help Jill with her research. Thank you!
A Retirement Planning Workshop sponsored by Elkhart County Retired Teachers’ Association will be held on Saturday, November 5th: 8:45 – 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Goshen. Whether your retirement is months or years away, you will gain valuable information needed to help plan for a successful retirement. Spouses are welcome and are encouraged to attend. Prior registration is not required. This is a no cost program for attendees.
