Suicide Prevention Presentations
St. Mary’s County Public School staff participates annually in training for the identification of youth suicidal risk factors and warning signs. The process of obtaining help for a student who is at risk of harming themselves is executed with great care by staff. Students in need of support are not left unattended and parents are notified immediately.
The statewide prevention program includes classroom instruction about the warning signs of suicide and suicide prevention strategies. Middle School Counselors conduct annual classroom presentations to students on the signs of suicide, what to do when a peer is suicidal, and how to seek help. The goal of these presentations is to communicate to students that suicide is preventable.
Spring Ridge School Counselors will begin their classroom presentations by joining Google Meet classrooms beginning the week of November 30. If you have questions regarding our suicide prevention program please contact your student’s school counselor.
