We are excited to be back to the learning and laughter that makes Hillcrest School our favorite place to be!

This newsletter will cover the nuts and bolts of our first days of school.

Please read through it in its entirety.

In the beginning weeks of school, our staff will be implementing getting to know you activities, building a positive classroom community, and familiarizing students with our digital platforms. As we navigate the first weeks of school, your support and patience is greatly appreciated.

The parent portal is now live!

On Friday, August 25th, finalized teacher assignments were posted on the Parent Portal. Please create a portal account so that you have access to this information.

Schedules, bus information, annual updates, babysitter forms for transportation, and more are all accessible to parents and families.

These forms must be completed on the PowerSchool Parent Portal before the first day of school:

#4 Dismissal Procedures and Transportation

#5 Policy Agreements

Classroom/teacher assignments and bus information will be available on the parent portal at the end of August.

For students who will utilize district bussing:

If you need a babysitter pick-up/drop-off for busing that's different from your home address; You must complete this form by Friday, August 25th in order for your arrangements to begin on the first day of school.

***Please remember to review your child's bus assignment the day before school starts for the most updated information.***

Dear Kindergarten Families,

I am thrilled to welcome you to visit our school for a tour on THURSDAY, August 31st at 1:30pm. At this time, we can accommodate you and your child. Siblings are not allowed to attend. Please arrive promptly.

Homeroom teacher assignments will be shared with families through the PowerSchool Parent Portal prior to the visit. There will be cones with our kindergarten teachers names outside. Please line up behind the cone.

Our amazing staff is stationed both inside and outside of the building. Any students who are new to Hillcrest or joining us in person for the first time, will be safely guided to their classrooms.

• Morning drop off will begin at 8:40am in the Front Circle.
• We will stagger the buses and cars so that there is no intermingling.
• THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PASSING ANY CARS OR BUSES IN FRONT OF YOU.
• We will utilize all of the space in the front circle for arrival so please pull forward to the next available staff member.
• Students must exit the car on the right side. (curbside)
• Please do not drop children off before 8:40 a.m. unless they are enrolled in the Sunrise/Sunset program; school doors will not open until 8:40 a.m.

• Parking is available in the lower parking lot. Please walk up to the correct location and form a line. If there are cones blocking a space, please do not move the cones to park.
• Kindergarten students will dismiss from the far door near the loading dock.
• First grade and second grade students will be dismissed from the double doors near the first grade playground.
• Please leave promptly after picking up your child to ensure parking for other families.
• Students riding buses will begin dismissal at 2:58pm.

School newsletters will be sent out periodically to keep you informed of school happenings. Class Dojo is another communication tool used between teachers and parents. School announcements, reminders, and events will also be posted here. Teachers will send home a code or email you a code for you to sign up to their Class Dojo. Please see our staff directory on our school website for our staff's email addresses.

Please keep our nurse informed and up-to-date on your child's health information. Please email her to coordinate medication drop-off. Each incoming kindergartner and student new to the Morris School District needs to submit a Universal Health Form or a recent physical exam filled out by their physician as a part of their enrollment.
