What Makes LSC Different?

What's it like to be a scholar at LSC?

Math Eureka Math - the most widely used math curriculum in the US - is a holistic kindergarten through Grade 12 curriculum that carefully sequences mathematical progressions in specially crafted modules, making math a joy to teach and learn. Aligned to SC College & Career Ready Standards, the curriculum emphasizes a procedural-based approach to solving problems. Many reviews of the curriculum come back to the theme of students learning to think, strategize, and solve problems...not just getting answers. | Social Emotional LearningOpen Circle is a K-5 program designed to develop SEL skills and build a community in which students feel safe, cared for, and engaged in learning. It aims to proactively develop children’s skills for recognizing and managing emotions, empathy, positive relationships and problem-solving. The lessons provided a varied selection of instructional strategies to include circle meetings, discussions, mindfulness, and role-playing. | English Language Arts The EL curriculum is module-based and culturally responsive with a diverse, inclusive text. In grades K-2, each module is comprised of two one-hour blocks of content-based literacy (Module Lessons and K-2 Labs) and the third hour of structured phonics (K-2 Reading Foundations Skills Block). Together, these three hours of curriculum teach and formally assess all strands of the Language Arts standards. This rigorous curriculum is aligned to the SC College & Career Ready Standards. |
