Principal's Message
Dear Trailblazer Families:
We are amazed at how quickly this school year is flying by. Students, staff and families have accomplished remarkable things over the past few months despite being in a pandemic. As always, thank you for your continued support and the amazing efforts you are taking to help your child succeed.
Sincerely~JoeAnna Hernandez
TTES Parents~
Your student(s) will be taking the i-Ready mid year reading assessment beginning January 26th during a portion of their ELA block of time. Here is a brief overview of the WHY behind the assessment and how you can help your child be prepared to show off what they have learned!
This is an assessment to see exactly which reading skills your child has mastered and which skills still need more instruction and practice. This assessment does NOT count as a grade for any purpose. It guides the teacher in providing targeted instruction to meet individual students’ needs.
How to prepare at home:
It is important that your child be well rested and ready to do their best. The test is computer adaptive and is designed to give them questions that are easy, just right, and difficult. They can expect to get approximately 50% incorrect. So it is important that you encourage them- but do not help them with this test in any way. We need authentic scores to provide accurate instruction. Their results will also be used to assign them a learning path in i-REady. If their scores are inflated- the work assigned will be too difficult for them. Know that your student, regardless of age, will use CLEVER to access i-Ready. If they utilize their CLEVER badge please be sure to have that ready for them on the day/s they are testing.
If you have questions about when your child is testing- please connect with your child’s teacher. Our teachers will have additional training on the use of student score reports on February 8th and will have information to share with you after that training.
Thank you for your continued support during these challenging times of online learning.
Grades~Infinite Campus~Parent Portal
As all of you know, the first semester ended on Friday, December 18. Grades are available in Infinite Campus for our students in 1st - 5th grade and TK and Kindergarten teachers emailed first semester scores home. Teachers are using the data collected to analyze how their students are doing in all content areas. From this information, teachers are collaborating to discuss progress with our specialists and administration to ensure that we are supporting all learners on our campus. Our teachers work so hard to make sure they are providing classroom instruction that provides enrichment to those students that need the extra challenge, as well as intervention to those students that may need some additional support to be successful. If you have any questions regarding your child’s academic progress, please do not hesitate to contact the teacher. We have numerous academic and social emotional interventions available for students in all grade levels.
If you would like more information regarding social emotional support for your student(s), you may also refer to the links at the bottom of this newsletter from our TVUSD Social Emotional Team.
These next few months are going to go by quickly. Please make sure you are checking Infinite Campus and keeping in contact with your child's teacher to stay informed on how your child is doing in class.
If you need assistance in accessing the Parent Portal you may contact the Front Office for assistance or use the step-by-step directions below.
