Principal's Message

Sunny Heights Families,

Safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors is a priority at Sunny Heights Elementary. In order to enhance the level of security for school visitors, the district has implemented the Raptor visitor management system at Sunny Heights. In order to better protect our students, visitors, and staff, all visitors will be required to show a valid, government-issued ID at the front desk upon entering the building. We appreciate the cooperation and support of our families in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all at Sunny Heights.

As always, thank you for all that you do!

Your proud principal,

Barton Lewis

Do not forget to change your clocks on Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00 a.m. We "fall back" in time and have another hour of sleep!

NO SCHOOL ON November 5th

Do not forget that on Tuesday, November 5th, there is NO school for all students! This is a Professional Learning Day for our staff. We will see you on the 6th!

Please note that due to the Lifetouch pictures arriving later than expected, Picture Re-Take Day has been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 12th. Flyers will be coming home soon. If you do not like the pictures that you may have received from the previous picture day, just send the pictures back to the photographer on the 12th. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Our Family of the Month for September

Each month, beginning with September, we are honoring one of our wonderful families. The families will be selected based on the following criteria: Parent or guardian must be a PTA member; students must have good attendance; the family must exhibit C.O.R.E. behavior at all times when in the building. The Ortiz family was awarded a $25.00 gift card to Walmart. Congratulations to the Ortiz family!

The curriculum in these classes is differentiated and faster paced and students will be working above grade level if they qualify. As a district, we look at all students in grades 1, 4, 6 and 8 to see if they qualify for the following school year based on eligibility criteria. Parent recommendations are considered along with achievement scores when determining placement in high ability. More detailed identification information can be found here.
