Congratulations to the WGHS Juniors Invited to Boys and Girls State
Two West Genesee High School juniors were invited to attend the American Legion Boys State sponsored by the Camillus Post #1540.
The boys who were selected to attend are: Andrew Sheedy and Keegan Scharoun.
Two girls from West Genesee High School were selected for Girls State as delegates and three girls as alternates. Danesia Patterson and Mia Coots were chosen to be delegates and Velika Zaitseva, Sarah Petrus, and Julia Colabufo were alternates.
These are annually scheduled to occur at the end of June. Unfortunately, both summer programs were cancelled due to COVID-19. Congratulations!!!
Check Out the Health and Registration Requirements
This past year there have been updates to the Health and Registration requirements for students. Here is a link to the Latest Immunization Requirements Information located on our website.
If you still need to register your child for school, Central Registration is operating from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the summer starting June 22 for any assistance. The Central Registration Office will be closed on July 3.
When scheduling an appointment to register a student, please go to the registration webpage by clicking here or call the Registrar’s office at (315) 487-4683.
Transitioning to a New Communication System
As part of the transition, we will be keeping the Mobile App from Blackboard for the upcoming year and will continue to push out notifications to people that have the app on their phone. The calendars, news, directory and other current information will continue to feed to the mobile app.
Last week we conducted testing on the email feature by sending emails from both the new system and the previous system. This helped us verify that information from the new system is not going to your spam/junk folders.
We will be implementing the texting feature of the SchoolMessenger system during July, so please be on the lookout for more information about that test.
The phone/robo call feature will be tested and implemented prior to the start of school, and we will send more information when we are ready to test the call feature.
Please be on the lookout for more information as we roll out the new system and you can send any questions about the transition to publications@westgenesee.org.

West Genesee is Conducting a Facilities Study
The District’s Strategic Planning Team has begun working with our consultants to review many facets of the District’s operations. The purpose of the study is to evaluate this essential question:
“How can the District maintain and enhance the educational opportunities for West Genesee students in its tradition of excellence while continuing to ensure efficient and effective utilization of staff and facilities as well as fiscal responsibility for the District’s taxpayers?”
The team has begun meeting monthly and the meetings are open to the public. There is an opportunity for the public to ask questions at the end of each meeting.
Please visit our Facilities Study website on the Strategic Planning webpage. for meeting dates, agendas, meeting notes, and links to livestreams (if we are required to meet digitally).
