Christianity is a religion based off of Jesus Christ as their one God. They are monotheistic. The Christians study the Holy Bible, the book written in biblical times. They practice the holidays of Christmas, which symbolizes the birth of Jesus Christ as the son of God, and Easter, which is the 3rd day after Jesus was crucified, dead and buried, and he rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. They often pray before eating or before they go to bed. They go to church every Sunday, and they baptize the youth in the church as a way of symbolizing that they are a member of the church and that Jesus is always with them.
Christianity began as a branch off of Judaism. The 12 Apostles were the head of Christianity while Jesus was alive and started spreading the Word of The Lord during and after the life of Jesus Christ. Later on, the religion spread like wildfire. Many people began following Christianity and the Pope. Martin Luther did not like that the Pope had so much power, so he broke away from the Catholics and began a new form of Christianity called Protestants. They were more loose with how they did things, and could speak to God directly instead of through the Pope. Christianity spread to North America when Europeans came over and is now one of the most popular religions in the world.
Judaism is based off of The Creator, their God. They are montheistic. They study the Torah, which is much like the Christian Bible, just without the Old Testament. They celebrate the holiday of Haunukahh, which symbollizes the Miricle of the Oil, where an amount of oil that was only supposed to burn for 1 day lasted for 8. They also celebrate the holiday of High Holy Day, which revolves around judgement and forgiveness to their God. They recite solitary prayers 3 times a day. They go to synagogues and read the Torah.
Judaism started in 1500 BC, where Abraham was the father of the Jewish people. They started by the Fertile Crescent and in the land of Canaan. Jacob left Canaan during a huge famine and the religion spread. Later on, Christianity broke off of it.
Hinduism is based off of one main god with many separate smaller gods. It is kind of like an infusion of monotheism and polytheism, but it leans more to the side of polytheism. The Hindus read the Shruti and the Smritis. The Shruti is one of the oldest religious texts in the world. They celebrate a holiday or festival almost every day. Rama Navani is the celebrating of the birth of the god Rama and Krishna Jayanti. The Hindus daily seek awareness of God and blessings from Devas. They do many things to praise their gods, such as a puja, or a worship, or they create shrines with icons. Many people visit temples often, and praise their gods there. The people believe in Karma where everything happens for a reason and what goes around comes around.
Hinduism was formed in 2000 BC. It branched off the religion of the Vedas. The Aryans helped produce this religion, and it is believed that people riding horses came over to India and began to spread the religion. They began to create many gods for almost everything. This religion began to spread, and is now one of the most popular in the world. The main site is in India.
Buddhism is based off of their teacher the Buddha. They are not monotheistic or polytheistic since they have no gods. They read the scriptures of Buddhavacana and some others. This is a series of text that has been written in many different languages. They celebrate Vesak, or Buddha Day, which is where they celebrate the birthday of the Buddha by coming together all over the world and having a festival. Buddhists pray and praise the Buddha often; they do it early in the morning, before they eat most meals, and before they go to bed. It is very important to praise often. They also often meditate to songs or to prayers so that they can grow closer to where they need to be. They also believe in Karma.
It started in 500 BC in Ganges Valley. There, they had a few Buddhism Councils and then it spread to the Mauryan Empire through a long war. There, Buddhism spread throughout the ancient world to China and some of Europe from India. It expanded to Sri Lanka and Burma, and then grew exponentially.
Islam is a religion based off the god Allah. They read the scriptures of the Qur'an, the book of god based off the teachings of Mohommed, a prophet. The celebrate Ramadan, a month-long fasting, and a holiday at the very end of Ramadan where they give to charity. They do ritual prayers 5 times a day to praise Allah. They often go to a mosque, and believe in ressurection like Christians.
Muhammed basically started the spread of this religion in the 600's. He preached to the people, and his findings and beliefs were written down in a book called the Qur'an. When Muhammed died, they did not know who would become the leader, and they had a Civil War. From then on, peace has been preached by many.
