Planning Ahead

The week of January 17 there will be three half days. These half days will be Wednesday, Jan. 19, Thursday, Jan. 20 and Friday, Jan. 21. This is for the end of the semester. A sack lunch will be provided each day.

Dismissal is at 11:40 a.m.

The TAS Board of Education at its December 2021 board meeting approved a test to stay option for those students who are exposed to a positive COVID individual at school. This is only for school exposures.

COVID-19 positive students will not be allowed in school for 10 days of symptom onset or 10 days from positive if they have no symptoms.

Students who become a close contact due to a positive at school can follow these quarantine guidelines.

1. Fully vaccinated – Fully vaccinated student who is symptom free does not need to quarantine

2. Unvaccinated – Symptom free – Recommend wearing a mask and is tested on all seven days. Student stays in school and participates in activities with a negative result. Positive test result student is sent home to quarantine.

Students who refuse to test on all seven days will need to quarantine at home for 10 days with the option to test on days 5, 6 or 7 to return on day 8.

Parents will need to let the school know of this option and there will be paperwork that will need to be filled out. Tahquamenon Area Schools will offer testing each day starting at 7:30 a.m. in the high school gym. Students will need to test negative to stay in school. Bus students will need to report to the high school gym immediately upon getting to school for testing on test days. (District is looking into home tests for these students so they can do the test prior to getting on the bus in the morning.)

TAS will continue with COVID safety precautions and encourage parents, students and staff to stay home when they don't feel good or show symptoms. Together we can help everyone stay healthy.
