Life Story
- Born March 5, 1767 - Died June 8, 1845
- Born into an area called the Wax-haws ( Family Migrated from Scotland)
- Mother and Father where Scottish Immigrants ( Andrew and Elizabeth Hutchinson)
Early Military Career
Jackson joined the military militia at the age of 13 to become a courtier. During his early life in the military he and his brother Robert where captured and held as prisoners. Jackson received the scars on his eye during this time period when he was abused in captivity. His brother and mother soon died of disease and he became an orphan.
Upper Military Career
Jackson moved up the ranks rapidly. As a Colonel for a while he moved forward to the rank of Major General after some battles in the Tennessee Militia. During the War of 1812 Jackson defeated Indian Tribes trying to take over white lands. He became well known however after he and his men defended off Red Coats in the Battle of New Orleans.
Political Career
Jackson served as a senator before he became president. He was nominated in 1824 to the presidency but, did not work out due to the political party backing someone else up for president. He resigned out of being senator to continue running for president and which the second time he was elected into office.
Presidential Career
Andrew Jackson was the 7th President of the United States. During his political Career he paid of the entire national debt, he also accomplished to rotate people in the cabinets of and in other places to be up for reelection because some of them where still in office since the presidency of George Washington. He did this change also to allow new members to come in and make their opinions heard, as well as to not give to much power to those individuals.
