All about Fabry Disease
Fabry disease is also known as angiokeratoma corporis diffusum. This disease is caused by a deficiency of an enzyme called a-GAL A. The x chromosome is affected by this disease. Some of the symptoms are, pain in the hands and feet, a specific kind of rash, and a decreased ability to sweat. This disease affects males but can frequently affect a female offspring. This disease is inherited from the mother. An early diagnosis of the disease with the right treatments, will stop the disease from progressing. Doctors can use medications to alleviate the symptoms but so far, there is not a cure. There is no way this disease could have been prevented but scientist and doctors are working on possible cures.
