Series & parallel Circuits

By Caitlin Rusconi

Series

A series circuit it a circuit that follows one current.

Christmas lights are a series circuit because of how the bulbs are situated along the wires.

Batteries in a remote are another use of series circuits.

Disadvantages

It is illegal to do your own electrical wiring

If there is a break in the wire all the lights after the bra will turn off

Advantages

You can add additional power sources

They are easy to use and make

They are less likely to over heat

Parallel

A parallel circuit is a circuit that has multiple current paths.

A chandelier's light bulbs are situated in a parallel circuit because the lights are parallel to each other.

All appliances in your household are all hooked up with the main supply of electricity in your house.

Advantages

Parallel circuits also allow components to be added in the circuit without changing the voltage.

Its a simple layout and easy to create.

If a wire near a light bulb breaks only the light bulb in front of the break looses it power
