Daniel Boone Spectra
Field Day Footage
What is also commonly known as "The Best Day Ever" was another rousing success at Daniel Boone. The rain held off to make it a wonderful day for all. Thank you to so many parent volunteers, over 90 in all, that make this day possible. They man the stations with a smile and rah, rah attitude and that makes the day extra special.
We were fortunate enough to receive a Go Pro camera in the Spectra department this spring. We purchased the head strap that enables the camera to be worn and obtain a first hand perspective of events. In other words, you can experience Daniel Boone Field Day through the eyes of students. Thank you to Mrs. Fredrick's fifth grade class for per curing the footage. Please click the link below to enjoy the video footage montage. I truly hope you enjoy it!
Do you have ideas of how to incorporate the Go Pro? We would love to hear them!

Calming Fears
It wouldn't be summertime in STL without severe storms. Sometimes these storms can be very unsettling for children. This article gives some suggestions on ways to handle these, and other realistic fears, that children have. Sure, it's statistically unlikely that a tornado will hit your home or a coyote will attack your dog, but it is a real fear to them. I hope this article helps understand why your child may be overanxious about it and how you can help.
Set!
Set is a game that many of the students enjoy playing. Here is a website that allows them to play it on the computer. The site is updated each day with a new game. Enjoy.
Virtual Field Trip to the Met
The Metropolitan Museum of Art just added an enormous collection of high resolution images. The images are categorized and include information about each piece. You can easily search by different categories including: artist/culture, methods/materials, location, date/era. It includes nearly 400,000 pieces of art!
I need to sit in on Mr. Sherman's art class because I don't think I ever thought of jewelry as art. Or is it my husband that needs to sit in on the class?
I Need You...
to give me feedback! If you have not had the opportunity to take the parent survey or book club survey, please take a few moments to do so. Even if your child is moving onto the Middle School, I would still appreciate your feedback. Ultimately it's the people that work with me on a regular basis that can give me the feedback that will most help me grow as an teacher and best help your child.
The links below will take you to the surveys. Thank you in advance for your help.
