NEWS FROM THE CORRAL
MAY 20, 2017
Good Afternoon Pony Families,
It's my guess that every parent, teacher, and student is exhausted from all the events we squeezed into five days this past week. May is always a month filled with both excitement and anxiety because our calendars are packed. We have seven more days and, yes, they too will be busy but we are almost to the finish line!
During our 8th grade awards ceremony we honored five students who have not missed one day of school since 6th grade. I want to mention this award because many times we concentrate on the Honor Roll or Outstanding Student awards. Middle school years are difficult and come with many challenges. For students to push forward and attend school for three years straight is amazing. These students have the determination to face obstacles head on. Congratulations to you and work ethic is the first step towards to success!
Please check with the cafeteria to ensure you student doesn't have unpaid charges. Our cafeteria manager's email address is sheila.muhametaj@gcisd.net. She will assist you in getting your student's negative balance cleared.
Please continue to keep up with students progress in all classes and contact teachers should you have concerns. Finals begin on May 31st and remember we have the Academic Assistance time available every day from 7:00 - 7:45 in the Lecture Hall for students who need to make-up assignments or need assistance studying for finals.
As always we thank you for supporting GMS and have a great week!

SUMMER PERFORMANCE COURSE:
The Performance Course program is highly recommended to do over the summer. The athletes have been working hard this year strength training and conditioning and we don’t want them to lose any of that training. I realize this is there break but, this camps is tailored so that if you need to miss 4 days or a week for vacation, you can (and not have to pay for that week (s) but to get back in it when you return. Our entire all middle and high schools in our district use this program as well as our competitors. Therefore, we must be improving over the summer in order to compete at a higher level. Please click below to read the info regarding Performance Course.

The World Wear Project collection bin is conveniently located outside the GMS Gym entrance. The GMS PTA will receive .12 cents for every pound collected. 100% of the items collected will be reused or recycled.
