Welcome back to School!

Welcome back to the 2018-19 school year at OSSB! Teachers, staff and students are back in the swing of things, and OSSB is 'humming like a well-oiled machine'. We have welcomed several new teachers this year, Mrs. Hamlin teaching grades K-2 and Ms. Alessandra Kester teaching in one of our Multiple Disability elementary classrooms. OSSB said goodbye to former teachers Mrs. Shearer and Ms. Shope, and we wish them a wonderful school year in their new districts. Our track team has visited Indiana and Tennessee, and last weekend hosted the NCASB Conference and 12 State Schools for the Blind competed on the OSSB Track. The OSSB Marching Band has performed in the local community several times this fall. Stay tuned for more information about academics, sports and marching band and let us know what you want to see in our NEW newsletter format! At the bottom of this newsletter, you will see two buttons for Facebook pages for OSSB and for the OSSB Foundation. Click on the button to take you directly to the FB page.

OSSB Visits Local Apple Farm

September was a busy month at OSSB! Several groups of students were able to take a trip to Lynd Fruit Farm in Pataskala and pick their very own apples. Elementary students were also able to take the Lil' Farmer Tour where they 'harvested' their own goods by digging for potatoes, gathering eggs, and fishing. At the end of the visit, they traded their basket of goods for a cup of apple cider!

Mr. Kelley and the Podcast team are at it again!

The August and September editions of the OSSB podcast are now available! Members of the podcast team say, "Please listen, enjoy and rate so we can keep this thing growing. And thank you for your support."

Columbus, OH

What is the Spirit Sprint 5k?

Since 2010, Orthopedic ONE has organized and hosted the Spirit Sprint 5k Run/Walk to support athletics and extracurricular activities at central Ohio high schools. The event is a fundraiser, with an enticing challenge component, to raise the funds needed to help schools offset costly expenses like pay to play fees, purchasing new equipment and uniforms, or funding the arts - such as band & theater programs.

The event goal is simple. We value the positive impact athletics and extracurricular programming has on students and we want to do our part to support and sustain these important activities into the future.

Please see the link below to sign up for this run and walk. All OSSB registration money comes back to OSSB! (see photo from last year's event below).
