Admissions
New CSU website for Fall 2023 SAT/ACT updates
The CSU Office of the Chancellor has published a web site to highlight updates and information regarding the discontinuation of the use of standardized test scores in undergraduate admissions. Visit Undergraduate Admissions and Standardized Tests | CSU (calstate.edu) to view key updates and FAQs. The CSU Trustees will vote on the proposed changes to Title 5 at the next Board of Trustees meeting on March 22 and 23.

Financial Aid
Encourage FAFSA/CADAA Filing
The priority filing period of March 2nd has passed; however, please encourage your students to submit the FAFSA and CADAA (CA Dream Act) application if they have not already done so. College Applications

California State University (CSU) Application - The California State University (CSU) application is for all 23 campuses within the CSU system. The CSU App simplifies the process of applying to CSU campuses. Once your application is received by Cal State Apply, your application and materials are transmitted to all the campuses you have indicated on your application.

University of California (UC) Application - The University of California's application for undergraduate admissions and scholarships. All University of California campuses use the UC application. The UC application opens each year on August 1 and can be submitted from November 1-30.

Common Application - The Common Application is a streamlined college application system that allows you to apply to multiple schools at once. Over 900 colleges and universities use the Common Application including the majority of private schools and many public institutions. Note that many schools have a supplemental application found on the platform that students will need to complete.

Common Black College Application - The Common Black College App can be used for 65 member Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU's). The cost is $20 and students can apply to as many of the schools as they would like, ranking their top four choices.

Coalition Application - The Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success is a relatively new application option for college admissions. The Coalition App can be used for 150+ college and universities. Students can store documents, artwork, and video content in their Digital Locker, beginning in their freshman year.

California Community Colleges - The California Community Colleges site will connect you with community college applications throughout the state of California.

UCAS - UCAS, which stands for Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, is a UK-based organization that operates the application process for British universities.

NOTE: There are some colleges and universities that may require their own application for admission. Please check the college website for more information.

The San Diego Foundation Common Application Opens Dec. 1

The San Diego Foundation Community Scholarship program provides scholarship opportunities for local students to help pursue their educational goals and achieve their higher education dreams. The Common Scholarship Application for the 2022-23 academic year will open Dec. 1. Details about this scholarship program are available on The San Diego Foundation website. To ensure that school counselors are prepared to support students, there will be two virtual scholarship application convenings to learn more about navigating the application.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a regional tuition discount program, which enables students from one of 16 WICHE states and territories in the Western U.S. to enroll as nonresidents in 160+ participating public colleges and universities and pay 150 percent (or less) of the enrolling school’s resident tuition—which annually saves students an average of $9,000 each on the cost of non-resident tuition. Cal-SOAP Virtual Cash for College Workshops

Starting this month, students and families can attend FREE Cash for College workshops across California for help completing the FAFSA, CADAA, and Chafee Grant for Foster Youth applications. All sessions are on Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and district-specific workshops are free and open to students and families from other districts.
