MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Greetings MVCSD Community,
The announcement this week of three new Career and Technical Education (CTE) state-approved graduation pathways was a huge development in terms of opportunities for our scholars. Students can now take computer systems networking and troubleshooting, barbering, and cosmetology for six college credits. They also can use their completion of the program as a replacement for one of their Regents Exams required for graduation. These program approvals are great news for our scholars, and I am excited to see what the CTE Department has planned next.
Recently, we promoted three administrators from within the District. Creative Executive Director Angela Hall, Director of Special Education Michelle McKitty-Bromley and Director of Special Education Compliance Dr. Kellie Ramsey have each done great work in our District and will continue to do so in their new positions. We see how hard people work to serve our students, so the District tries to reward that dedication as often as it can and promote from within.
Many thanks to Iona University for the exciting Artificial Intelligence course it has brought to Mount Vernon STEAM Academy. As technology continues to develop, students should be prepared using the most cutting-edge instruction to understand how these technological developments will affect their lives and careers. I appreciate the partnerships we have with colleges and universities that help us deliver the best possible education.
Dr. K. Veronica Smith
Acting Superintendent of Schools
